Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 18, 2012 6:23 pm Hi guys and girls, I'm in a position where I want to do some extensions and renovations to my place and whilst I have the time to do what I can myself, I am not "builder" material. I'm prepared to get my hands dirty, but really do need the guidance of a builder who will probably end up doing most of the work anyway. For example, I need a tree lopped, I have someone to do that. I have a plumber and an electrician lined up for the main work, but these are just referrals and whilst I could go off their referrals, I don't want it to be a case of one tradie looking after another and sinking me in the process. My main concern is just finding someone I can trust. I don't know where to look and or any idea on how to gauge "trustworthiness" of whomever I select. I realise this website probably has an anti-naming and shaming policy, but how does one go about really picking a builder that's not going to take me to the cleaners? If it's not against this website's policy, if someone can post or PM me some builders they know to be reputable on the NSW Central Coast it would probably get me started. Unfortunately, I don't really know anyone in the area that's had some building done... Well, I know two, but BOTH of those people have shied me away from using their guy for various reasons. This is obviously making me more concerned about the whole process. Is there a website that I can punch different contractors names into so I can see if they have a myriad of complaints? I have no idea on insurances and the like, but gather that since I'm going the owner/builder route, it'll all be different anyway. Any general advice in this area would be greatly appreciated. Re: Finding a builder 2Apr 26, 2012 10:00 pm Hi madivad, I hope your extensions and renovations are going well. I'm in a similiar position, recently moved to Gosford and looking for a builder to do some renovations. Did you find someone you could recommend? Any info / help would be appreciated, Cheers Chad Hi Kateo, Are you able to spare any of the tiles? Thanks Tony 10 11393 in the stormwater pit or the drain? Those dont look like theyd fit in the drain. Separately, the pits do get stuff in them during the course of the build. For the most… 1 7927 |
