Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 17, 2012 10:19 pm G'day All, I am keen to build a house in Yass. I am a diesel mechanic working in the mining industry in WA, but I am originally from Sydney. My Dad has lined me up with a job in Canberra when my mining days are finished, which is ideal for me as I have friends that live in the ACT. My reasoning for choosing Yass is for the availability of bigger sized blocks to build on. Queanbeyan doesn't really appeal to me. I would love to get feed back from others on here about who the decent builders are in Southern NSW. I am also wary of poor quality tradesman. I have mates of mine that are bricks in Sydney, & I wouldn't feed them after some of the disgraceful stories that they have told me which happen on Sydney building sites. Apparently it is standard practice for concretors to remove rio from the formwork prior to pouring the slab. I work 4 weeks on, & 1 week off, on the other side of the country, & I wouldn't handle things very well at all if poor quality of workmanship were to occur during my absence. Also, has anybody on here had any experiences with Yass Shire Council? Are they a painful organisation to deal with? My proposed schedule of works would be to build a decent 12 Metre x 9 Metre x 3 Metre high shed to house my toys, then build my house. Feedback & suggestions will be gratefully received Hi, We are looking for a builder that can build a small home (smaller length) on a sloping site. We came across Mojo's Zephyr design 10.6 m wide and 11.5 m length. Does… 0 23029 9 24816 Thank you. Do I use timber floorboards for stairs or do people use timber treads? Or is both the same? 6 7310 |
