Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 14, 2012 11:03 am Our PD home is close to settlement so it's nearly time to have the driveway done. We plan to concrete our driveway to the property boundary so that it meets with the neighbour's driveway (with the minimum gap inbetween of course). We'd rather not leave a nature strip as per the plan as I feel it would look cleaner without it. The highlighted yellow area in the image is what we are proposing. We've already emailed the property developer Australand, asking for their permission so while we're waiting for their reply I was hoping that someone else has a similar experience and could shed some light on whether this is typically okay or not. The estate is Callaway Park in Sushine West, Vic. The design guidelines state that we need a 0.5m gap from the boundary so I was worried that they wouldn't allow it. Re: Concreting new driveway to the property boundary 3Mar 15, 2012 10:11 am That's great to hear! We are also on a corner block and i think we are just going to do driveway to the line of the garage and put some smaller magnolia trees in between ours and the neighbours driveways to create softness but also to hide the gate to the back yard a little. Their garage is on the boundary line so we are hoping they agree to us having our gate connect to their garage. Have you had quotes for fencing yet??? Our lots are similar size and we got a qoute yesterday for $60 per unit- we haven't met the person yet and our measurements are rough as the fence on the shared boundary wont start until after their garage, so i minused 6m for our garage set back and another 5m for the actual garage. What house are you building? We've already had the fencing done through SS Concreting. The workmanship isn't the greatest but for the price they're okay. We paid $55/m plus GST for a capped timber paling fence with exposed posts. The house we've built is the Creswick 24. Re: Concreting new driveway to the property boundary 5Mar 15, 2012 11:00 am I would make the driveway a bit wider otherwise you might have trouble getting the car out of the garage. Did you approach them for fencing quotes and were they happy to pay half?? We have to have a colourbond fence so when someone told me $60 per unit was a good price and from what i have seen on other quotes we got excited.lol Did you have the fences installed after you moved in?? Love the Creswick! Nice and spacious. They organised the fencing on one side and we organised the fencing with the other neighbour using the same fencer. We did have a minor issue with one neighbour about paying half but that was resolved. All our fences are up. We haven't moved in yet. Settlement is scheduled for next week. Even 1/2m will make a difference Definately agree, you will kick yourself if you keep that angle in there. even if you take it back square to the footpath then angled it. How it is means you probably wont be able to park 2 cars without one getting in the way of the other should you want to get out. Re: Concreting new driveway to the property boundary 10Mar 21, 2012 4:57 pm The driveway is shared with the neighbour so we're limited there. With how our front is there wouldn't enough room to park two cars in the driveway anyhow. We are however widening the left bit more so the angle won't be as great. We've had decent weather for last 7 weeks and now the drvieway has been cut out we had an evening of 50mm of rain including all the water from half the street, ground is… 0 4479 It will be neat but you won't have much freeboard. At least they are not weep holes. Are you in a high intensity rainfall region? The regulatory slope is only required… 3 8283 Just get as close as you can without hitting the posts. Once you are close to the edge of the path the chance of cracking is minimised. 7 9196 |
