Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4461Feb 18, 2014 9:07 pm More photos and video on our blog. We appear to have one dedicated brickie putting in 10 - 12 hour days to get our house bricked ASAP. He's doing a marvellous job too! Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4462Feb 20, 2014 10:04 am Hi Rosie_Posie, We had the selected the facade that was the same as the Seaview display home in Homeworld 5 and during the build we saw on the front they had used treated Pine decking. I had a chat with the SS and he agreed to cover the front and below in dress Cedar. We are really happy with the way it looks. The floor of veranda is still treated pine decking. Cheers B&K p.s Pictures on our blog if your interested. Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4463Feb 20, 2014 8:55 pm Hi B & K, hopefully they will change ours also. I had a look at your blog and noticed your pantry shelves have the pole holding the shelves up - were these shelves standard or an upgrade? Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4464Feb 22, 2014 10:16 am It's was all go go go at Wonton Manor this week. Painter is finished, electrical done, plumbing done, shower screens and mirrors are in, door and door handles are done, carpentry is finished and the oven/dishwasher/micro are all in. We popped out to the house today to show a friend and the sanding guy was there prepping the floors for flooring next week. Flooring will be done next Tuesday and Wednesday and then it's all just finishing touches and the driveway. This has all really snuck up on us this week! So much work has been done! PCI is looking like it'll be Tuesday week with handover that Friday. The end is in sight - 2 weeks to go! Packing starts today Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4465Feb 24, 2014 9:21 am munchi It's was all go go go at Wonton Manor this week. Now..... where's the photos???? Walls to the backs of our toilets have been put in, and taps removed from splashback areas in bathrooms ready for removal of tiles to be done correctly. Hoping he gets is rear end into gear and finishes it all off - so sick of him holding us up!!! Hoping driveway will be formed up today also seeing as it has been held up from the rain last week. Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4466Feb 24, 2014 1:01 pm Hi Rosie_posie, The uprights were standard. They are just there to give some more support for the shelves. Cheers B&K Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4467Feb 25, 2014 2:55 pm You should have no problems beating us to handover now JTM. Just got a call from the SS, the moronic AC guy connected our AC wrong and flooded my ceiling last night... Need at least week to let it dry out after they rip out the gyprock. It's looking like a 2-3 week delay now. So devastated to be so close to the finish line only to have this happen. I'm going to have a look at the damage this afternoon. All I want to do is go home and drown my sorrows in wine.... Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4468Feb 25, 2014 2:58 pm munchi You should have no problems beating us to handover now JTM. Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4469Feb 25, 2014 5:34 pm Were you the person waiting for SS when all the drama unfolded JTM? Sucks so bad but he's going to try his hardest to help us out. I'll post a pic on the blog of what I could see downstairs when I was at the house this arv. Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4470Feb 25, 2014 8:51 pm Nope not us. We just gave him a call after we got our invoice. Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4471Feb 25, 2014 9:35 pm Quick question - when at contract signing stage, has anyone been able to amend their contract with Rawson? I was thinking of getting a building contract expert to check it over prior to signing. Also, we haven't yet received our final plans, yet the plans are included in the contract. We are a little confused and would appreciate any comments. Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4472Feb 25, 2014 10:10 pm Mrs.BB, I don't think there is an issue in altering few contents of the contract. We had few minor changes to be done like, electrical plans were not included, few pages of contract were missing etc. Once we notified CSO about this, they included everything and sent it again... just notices thta we had the color plans attached in the contract and not the final construction plan. Its a good idea to get someone check the contract but we did not get anyone because we weere okay with everything mentioned in the contract Munchi.. shame about the Aircon.. not long to go though.. good luck with everything. Its been 2 weeks since we officially moved in. We are loving it. It was worth the wait. Very happy with it all so far. We are still waiting for landscaping and fencing to be done. Also waiting for electrician to fit our pendants. Our furniture is also arrriving early mid march. I will post photos once I set up everything. Also send a feedback to RH today. I am so far very happy with it. Its value for money i must say! Will be adding comments on product review soon. Just wanted to mention about the bathroom lights. I remember there were many posts regarding this that its not powerful etc.. I thought I will comment on whats installed in ours... it is initially dim as soon as u turn it on, we have found that it brightens after few mins. Its enough to light up our bathrooms. ( I am a kind of person who is not very fond of dim lights at all !! )Hope this helps someone atleast. Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4473Feb 26, 2014 5:38 pm Cheeky Rawson tried to Bill me for PCI today... Ummmm no. Not until you fix my ceiling. Rude much?! Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4474Feb 27, 2014 6:06 am We got ours on tues too munchi... No where near finished!!! Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4476Feb 27, 2014 5:17 pm JTM I wouldn't pay the bill if I were you, it's the only way we can get them to work faster. If they get paid now they'll slow right down I bet. Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4477Feb 27, 2014 6:17 pm SS said not to yet anyway. The bank wouldn't pay it anyway until it's complete. Driveway has been formed up today!! Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4478Feb 27, 2014 7:01 pm Good work on the driveway! I thought yours would be this week. Ours is early next week so we must be next Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4479Feb 28, 2014 5:52 am Yeah, we were meant to be last week but it got rained out!!! And look, it's raining again!!!! Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4480Feb 28, 2014 1:26 pm Hi all - just like to ask for some of your feedback here if possible please, seeing as this is where a lot of the Rawson H1ers are congregating. We are currently looking at building with Rawson, but reading through this forum thread, it seems most of you guys have experienced a very long pre-build timeline, while waiting for the plans and paperwork to get sorted out by Rawson's head office. I'm seeing a couple of months before the plans are even ready to be submitted to council for development approval. (Granted I haven't read through every single one of the 200+ pages in this monster thread, but so far that seems to be the average.) I have 2 questions really: 1. Is this timeline the norm? Does every variation on the plan really take 3-4 weeks to get redrawn by Rawson before coming back to be re-checked by you? 2. Customer/sales rep - we've visited several of the Rawson display centres in Sydney, but haven't had any formal discussions with any of their reps. Is anyone here particularly happy with the rep that they've been dealing with? Someone that's happy to answer every little question, and replies to emails/phone calls promptly? (More than happy for people to PM me if not comfortable to quote names publicly here.) I don't really mind where this person is located within the Sydney region, just looking for someone that we can deal with throughout the pre-build process. Any comments on the above would be greatly appreciated... and thanks very much for sharing your experiences here, very helpful for us. Any advice on how to ensure the kit home granny flat that im thinking of buying will get council approval. The kit home companys wont release plans without a deposit and… 0 7114 of course there are legal avenues. You've already mentioned it. Sue them. I find it odd that lawyers wouldnt be willing to take on the case, given CCT evidence and… 1 23616 "Losers" "humanity" "off time" "your" "top notch" "love symbol" Sounds like ponzo is done using other people's toilets 37 23738 |
