Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1801Jan 12, 2013 2:46 pm I know Lake Mac Council had a really bad reputation for approvals a few years ago ( taking too long) & Newcastle are taking forever now so possibly the choice to use private certifiers stems from that? Our DA was approved in less than a week & CC would only have taken another day. Instead it took more than 3 weeks for the PC to issue the CC! Building Stroud 30 in Lake Macquarie Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1802Jan 12, 2013 5:07 pm Hey Guys. Everyone seems to be progressing well. Lets hope there is some more action coming up. We are now waiting for our construction/ colour plans then we are off to the certifier. How long does it take for the colour plans to be done and how long does the certifier take to issue the CC? So close now . . . We moved into our second rental today, its closer to our estate so once we start could imagine being there often!! Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1803Jan 13, 2013 12:11 am Thanks for the feedback guys I think I might be overthinking it.. We are currently in a rental with green carpet and have brown lounges so I really don't think it will be a big deal.. i'm just so determined to have everything matching lol I just dont think i can go past how amazingly comfy this one was.. Smorgzzz I think that coffee table would suit your house really well.. If I remember I'll ask them how much it is if I get there tomorrow.. My sales guy reads my blog And I was going to ebay everything but honestly can't be bothered.. We are letting the neighbours in the other 7 units have a pick at it (they are all horders haha the stuff wont last long..) 1rocky - which one did you get from harvey norman?? We got a set from there Mrs Bigted - I'm hoping you are right and yes the contractors aren't too bad however we find odd things lieing around lol there has been a zoo magazine and lots of energy drinks although they seem to all love tuna (I bet their wives put it in their lunchboxes haha) Hopefully progress for you soon! Jen - the lounge is on sale for $3200.. Normally $4200.. More then we wanted to spend and I only went to Freedom because I got a $90 voucher for Xmas lol but once we sat on it we just couldnt leave it.. We've looked everywhere else and nothing compares (I hate it when that happens) I'm not a leather fan but DH is.. Poor guy lol I'm in the process of searching for the signed claim (DH has gone back to WA) so I can send it to them Duessel thanks for your honesty There was a ladder to go upstairs but it was a weird looking wooden one and I didnt want to risk it.. I'll just wait My very first blog http://benham33.blogspot.com.au/ Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1804Jan 13, 2013 6:51 am Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1805Jan 13, 2013 9:41 am Tarsha - the lounge is lovely. if the colours are a little different, maybe you could put a rug down and as Smorgz said add a splash of colour with cushions or accessories. I took my sample piece of carpet with me and it was a great help! As we sell glass splashbacks for a living, I talk to people all day every day about colour and what to take into consideration etc when choosing colours. I have gathered as many samples together as possible & take them everywhere with me when we are buying furniture etc. Building the S36 the construction certificate should only take a couple of days, ours took 2 weeks as they had to re engineer the slab. Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1806Jan 13, 2013 10:03 pm 1rocky I like that lounge, very similar colours to what we like.. Melc I never picked up a sample I wish I did but the very helpful lady at freedom helped me drag over a rug today that is a similar colour to our carpet and helped me find cushions to bring out the grey as well so this is how we ended up Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ And I ended up buying all these cushions Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ So depending on which ones I feel like using when we get in the house and then we will have spares to change it up or put them in a bedroom or something Not sure what colour to put with it maybe blue? I was thinking blue normally brings out grey as well Smorgzzz the coffee table was $429 I checked just for you! So over packing!! I just want to put it all into the storage already! My very first blog http://benham33.blogspot.com.au/ Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1807Jan 14, 2013 9:37 pm Spoke to SS today.. He is happy to meet next week and we will finally get to go upstairs!! How has everyone else progressing? Saw you got water Jen thats awesome! We also got our first electricity bill for the new place.. $20.35 :/ My very first blog http://benham33.blogspot.com.au/ Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1808Jan 15, 2013 5:35 am Tarsha - Thanks for getting the price, I think I'll have to stop in and have a look at it. The pillows you bought are gorgeous! Great colours. Did you buy the lounge? Your place is flying along now. So exciting. Jen - Good to see your water meter is in, hopefully it's all systems go now. My driveway goes down today (I hope, trying to get council to do an inspection on the cross over first thing) Yard is fully fenced now, and we have had 2 people in 2 days stop and ask us about our gates, who did them, what type of timber etc Put my first load of washing on my clothes line yesterday, the breeze up here is crazy, it was dry in 3 hours! I like your range of cushions and colours and I think blue will look lovely with your lounge (I have a similar colour scheme). It sounds like you are going to have a lot going on in the next couple of weeks how exciting! Smorgz looking forward to you updating your blog and seeing more photos of your gates. Well we now have bricks everywhere but our SS called yesterday and they decided not to start bricking until Wednesday as we have 3 issues with windows. Also the bifold doors went missing over Christmas and he isn't sure if they didn't fit and were taken back or if they decided to take them back over Christmas so they wouldn't get stolen or if they were stolen! Anyway I trust these issues will be sorted quickly as unfortunately the bricks cannot be installed until these are sorted! I haven't known our SS long but I am really happy so far and particularly with his communication skills, I think it's the really important. He might not always tell us what we like to hear but at least he does tell us and communicates. Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1812Jan 15, 2013 8:51 am About to go call our SS now... given that he's back from XMAS break finally. Let's see how fast he can rocket into excavation (cut & fill) and slab prep! I'll be mighty stoked if we have any solid progress before the end of Jan Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1813Jan 15, 2013 10:55 am tarsha678 Spoke to SS today.. We still havent got a door and its very annoying as the garage has become another dumping ground for rubbish from the tilers and now the painters. Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1814Jan 15, 2013 3:32 pm Spoke to the SS today and we have got brick layers booked - they are supposed to be on site tomorrow, but Thursday for definite. I want to get excited, but we have been given dates before and they havent happened, so I am hoping this one will happen. I think Freedom have great lounges (and furniture in general), I will be keeping an eye out for their EOFY sales. I also think blues look nice with greys so I'm sure you could add some colour that way. Your house seems to be speeding along now, yay! Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1816Jan 15, 2013 9:16 pm Smorgzz we did get the lounge ordered it for march.. Hopefully we are in in march because the storage shed that I booked today won't fit all the stuff that is to be delivered haha I'm waiting for photos Thanks for all the feedback on the lounge guys! You all help making decisions easier Mel you will have to let us know what happened to your doors! Jen you'll have bricks done before you know it My very first blog http://benham33.blogspot.com.au/ Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1817Jan 16, 2013 8:19 pm Hello everyone, Hope you all had a wonderful holiday!
