Our CC was through the council, so not sure the process if it is with a private certifier. A slab is probably doable in Feb We had our tile appointment today. Is was hoping not to spend anything, but I don't think that is possible. We spent $2,050.00 which is more than I wanted and what DH expected so its all good I guess. I am just happy it is the last expense on the house before it is finished We have gone the same in all the bathrooms, 300 x 300 matte tiles on the floor Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ They were not in the standard range, extra $7.50 per metre - total $400 for 4 bathrooms plus laundry White matte 250 x 500 tiles for the wall. My wife liked that Wisdom Homes had one wall of tiles to the ceiling in each bathroom or something but you can't win them all. We already went to check out the tile place in Seven Hills months ago, just to have a browse and we liked a lot of the standard stuff, the selection was huge, but one never knows. I like your selection. We pay $45 sqm at work for tilers, tile direct would probably pay less than that as they get so much work. There is a massive mark up there. We spent $3600 and originally I wanted to do something similar to a Benham that was sold in fletcher last year.. Until I found out they had $43000 of tile upgrades lol My very first blog http://benham33.blogspot.com.au/ Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1686Dec 15, 2012 8:48 pm I asked what they lay rate was for the tiles and I was told that Rawson does not release those prices. I would be shocked if tile direct are keeping all that money for tile upgrades. I am sure that rawson get a cut of it - which is fine as it is their build so therefore their profit Modified Fernside 38 Rawson Homes Blog: http://www.thehousethatmatandjenbuilt.blogspot.com Build Thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=60501 Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1687Dec 16, 2012 6:58 am Hi all! I'll post some photos when I get home tonight. Great news Smorgzzz, photos photos photos. Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1690Dec 17, 2012 5:55 pm Everyone is very quiet at the moment... Went out to the house this arvo and the only thing that has happened is the wind blew a couple if bits of insulation out ill post the weekends pics tonight at some stage My very first blog http://benham33.blogspot.com.au/ Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1691Dec 17, 2012 8:24 pm It is quiet at the moment. No bricks have been delivered yet. They were supposed to come Friday. Hoping they come this week or the brickies won't be able to start 7th January. Plumbers on site today as brickies need water to start. We have a tap and what looks like the start of the water meter, but no water as yet. I am thinking they now need hunter water to install the water meter. Got the quote to remove the 7 trees that are dangerous. Total is $1700 which is not too bad. They are chipping the canopies and leaving the rest for us - we are going to have firewood for life. Spoke with the council boss today over my phone call last week. He said not to worry it will all be taken care of. The boss is coming out 3rd jan to identify the trees so we can remove them - we wouldn't want any more letters about removing trees illegally. DD graduated from pre-school tonight. She was so cute in her cloak and hatI had to wait until uni until I wore one for the first time Modified Fernside 38 Rawson Homes Blog: http://www.thehousethatmatandjenbuilt.blogspot.com Build Thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=60501 Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1692Dec 17, 2012 9:11 pm Jen1977 I asked what they lay rate was for the tiles and I was told that Rawson does not release those prices. I am sure that rawson get a cut of it - which is fine as it is their build so therefore their profit Yeah, from what I can tell most builders charge you RRP for a lot of stuff, plus a profit margin which seems to usually be around 20%. Because you'll often shop-around for stuff & buy with whoever's on-sale at the time, it does often turn out to be a lot higher than you'd otherwise pay. They probably don't make quite as much profit as you'd expect, though, because when you're doing the shopping-around you tend to ignore the time you spend whereas they've got to pay someone to do the organising. Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1693Dec 17, 2012 9:45 pm No good Jen.. The house across the road from where I am at the moment had their bricks delivered last week but it doesn't look like anyone is laying them yet.. Maybe the brickies took early holidays and will get an early start.. My only problem is that our bricks haven't been delivered yet. If they are not delivered this week they will not be delivered in time for the brickies to start 7th January. Hopefully the speed picks up from here, I found once the gyprock started I couldnt keep up with the progress. They have had a really productive December, I was thinking tiling would have to wait till next year but they have been tiling since Saturday. Three weeks ago, the SS told me it was 50/50 to be at lockup by Xmas Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1698Dec 18, 2012 8:47 am Quote: We have action - almost! They have had a really productive December, I was thinking tiling would have to wait till next year but they have been tiling since Saturday. Three weeks ago, the SS told me it was 50/50 to be at lockup by Xmas I'm happy that everyone has movement or indication of movement re construction commencement and/or ongoing schedule. The fact is that it is very obvious to me that Rawson could be running things a lot faster, we 'like everyone else' have lost many days in the admin process from being in a 3-4 week queue during drafting and re-drafting to variation calculations etc. It all seems to be part of the building 'experience'. According to me, and I don't claim to be an expert, we signed the tender in Mid June, 6 months ago almost to the day and I think a total of at least 20+ days have been wasted/delayed through the admin process. That means by now we should theoretically have a slab prior to Christmas at the very least. It is probably due to understaffing issues and incomplete or not as efficient as they could be internal communication systems, based on what I am reading on here and what I have experienced myself. However, in the words of my wise wife : "It is what it is." So my new years resolution is to take a deep breath and put lots of focus and energy into being more relaxed, knowing that Rawson build quickly and we end up with great quality. We'll hope that everything including when to put our existing house on the market will work out and all come together. Merry Christmas Everyone!
