Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our Benham 33 journey 81Apr 01, 2012 10:23 pm Well... there were so damn many tiles! We did find a few, but at this stage we're mostly trying to tie in a colour pallet for the whole house. We wanted red roof tiles, need to determine a bricking colour that will suit, kitchen will be white bench and cupboards, need to figure splashback colour and we think we have floor tiling colour down but then have to try tying that back into the bathroom colours! All in all we're early stages and got a few ideas to play around with - which was the main purpose of the visit. Re: Our Benham 33 journey 82Apr 02, 2012 2:33 pm We spent the whole day yesterday at Waterford County and over an hour just at Rawson alone. We were very impressed with their displays, their customer service and their info. I've loved reading this thread and will be following with interest! It's similar to the fact that Austral bricks only open 9 til 12 on Saturday and not at all on a sunday in Newcastle.. I guess they don't understand that the people that can afford to build and therefore buy their stuff actually work? lol Good to know he was helpful atleast Tiles are so hard!! Wouldn't it be better to shut down on a Mon or Tues? DH is going onto roster soon so it'll make it easier to do mid-week visits. We were at Rawson smack on 10am, didn't leave until after 11.30 then we went back at about 4.30pm so I could just confirm that I hadn't built them up all day in my head. Nope, still great! I took photos so I hopefully can stay away for a little while haha Just found out today that we have to do a landscape plan for Rawson to send in to Stockland so Stockland can approve it and then we can go to council. .I now have to wait until hubby is home next to get him to draw it up (we weren't even going to think about it until the house was done!) It really feels like we aren't getting anywhere! My wife wants a red tiled roof, and I really don't know what colour tiles will go well with it! Have you got your interior colours picked yet? Or is that further down the track? Re: Our Benham 33 journey 92Apr 04, 2012 7:43 am the gilbeys - i didnt even think about it. I've changed it but I'm not too concerned because if anyone went there all they would find is an empty block lol (maybe they could mow it for us?) Thanks for pointing it out though Koroboo - Yea I prefer the darker colours but we'll most likely lighten it a fair bit when we bag pain/render later on I have no idea on the tiles sorry I havent really thought about a red roof.. I don't think you would have to match the roof though.. We haven't had our internal colour appointment but we have a fair idea what we want and thanks sixor My very first blog http://benham33.blogspot.com.au/ My rant! 93Apr 04, 2012 9:24 am Tarsha great colours!! Well done! so we have our check plans now and will be going through them over weekend - we found a colour scheme we like based on an artists impression of the benham from rawsons site (I think it was from an old brochurre) anyway i asked our CSO for advice on which colours they were likely to be to save us driving back around to all the brick places again and all she could tell us was it was an artists impression so we had to go find out ourselves. Such a massive decision I am disappointed I didnt get a bit more direction than that - we will go to the brick place again but surely it makes sense that if they are doing an artists impression of the benham then they should have in mind that there are good chances ppl are going to want the same/similar colours and have info on standby on what the closest things in their range are!! Soooo annoyed at the moment! Sorry for the rant and wish I could post something more useful to everyone which I hope to do as I progress down the track. Have a good day all! Re: Our Benham 33 journey 94Apr 04, 2012 1:05 pm We just spoke with our SS for the first time today. After Easter we are off and running with the contructions. : We now have a slab date and frame date so very much excited, and least I know not to bother to drive past the block till after easter.. It feels it has been a bit of a long struggle to get this far... fingers crossed for smooth construction and good weather... I'll will try and post our lolours for our clifton/cabrita fronted home. We have gone with a expresso brick so a little worried how it will come out...but alot of rendering at the front.. All DH can say 'its to late now, so don't worry about it'.......does not help... How did or has everyone found the admin side ??? just curious..... Re: Our Benham 33 journey 95Apr 04, 2012 4:10 pm Tarsha - Colours look fantastic!! Our electrical consultation is on the 24th of April, was a week earlier, but I am away at a work conference then Have found admin to be good, I have kept a copy of every email I've sent and received, which has been handy. I can't comment on speed, as we started the tender in August, we were slow to start, because our land isnt registered yet, so we're not high up on the priority list, there is only so much we can do. Built the Seaview 36 with Rawson Homes - Read about it on my blog http://lamaisondemorgan.blogspot.com.au/ Re: Our Benham 33 journey 96Apr 04, 2012 4:37 pm Admin has been really good so far. We've kept every email we've sent although we haven't sent many... Our CSO has replied in a timely manner and has answered all our queries. Hopefully the level of service we've been receiving stays the same! Sales rep we dealt with at the display home was amazing. Very helpful, polite and informative. Couldn't say a negative thing about him really. Re: Our Benham 33 journey 97Apr 10, 2012 11:42 am Hi everyone Hope everyone had a good break. Thought i'd post to bump this thread back up. We went to Tile Direct on Saturday after calling earlier in the week to confirm that they would be open. After a 45 minute drive we arrived to find that they were closed. Not very happy Lucky there was a Bunnings down the road... I'd like to ask everyone how many litres is there rain water tank? Ours will be 3500. Is this a good size or should we be upgrading to a larger one? Re: Our Benham 33 journey 98Apr 10, 2012 12:26 pm Sixor - What a shame about TD being closed. We have a 3500L tank also, we're pretty sure it'll be adequate for us, we don't intend on having a garden that requires too much watering. We are still working through our building contract, we've been stalled a bit with a variation to our facade that we weren't happy with, it was going to see our front door being open to the elements, but they've managed to work something out, and we'll be happy with the changes now!! Our land should settle in the next 4-5 weeks so that's something to look forward to! Next Monday I'll have some good news (I hope). I'm really keen to see how we can lay the slab on our sloping block - and the site costs associated with getting what we want! Re: Our Benham 33 journey 100Apr 10, 2012 5:06 pm Hi guys hope Easter was good for everyone and hope u all ate as much chocolate as me I have so far found the admin side to be pretty good. With hubby in WA it's a bit hard to get things signed etc and they have been great and even made sure we had plans in time so hubby could check them with me etc. theyve also been great with not rushing us (we are happy for the build to take as long as they like lol get more paid off the mortgage) Sixor that's crap about TD id be complaining.. I don't think we get a water tank because our estate runs on recycled water so we get a box of some sort that hears it.. Can't help there sorry Smorgzzz what was the variation? How exciting about the land! :) Thanks for the colour feedback too everyone. Hopefully by the end of this week I have some final plans to share!
