Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4701Aug 14, 2014 7:50 am I agree with Pongie on this one but understand why you may want a walkthrough particularly if there are areas that stand out for you as being less than ideal. I'm sure for a fee any inspector would take you through the house again perhaps after they've done the report. And yes, the step issue is exactly the sort the sort of peace of mind I was after. As mentioned it was neat, still seemed a very comfortable height and wasn't anything that raised alarm bells for me whatsoever. Had I not had the inspection I doubt that it would've been noticed till an accident occurred or I sold the house. http://camdenbuild.blogspot.com.au/ by invite only please pm me Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4702Aug 22, 2014 7:09 am Ezza33 Hi all Wow, what a great thread! I haven't been able to get through all of it just yet but have had a good time reading about all of your builds. My husband and I are looking at doing a knockdown rebuild with Rawson with the Metford33 as our family has outgrown our current home but we love our quiet street and big block (impossible to buy new in Canberra these days!). We're not looking to do it for at least 12 months but want to learn as much as possible from other people's experiences. Looking forward to 'meeting' you all Erin Hi Ezra, did you go with rawson for your knockdown? Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4703Sep 19, 2014 1:38 pm Anyone building with rawson in sydney and used a good fencing contractor? Our neighbours move in soon so will need to get something up Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4704Sep 19, 2014 3:20 pm at the avenue Anyone building with rawson in sydney and used a good fencing contractor? Our neighbours move in soon so will need to get something up I will be in the same situation soon as my neighbour will be moving in soon and Rawson only just did the site cut few days ago. How would this work with Rawson in terms of getting access to site to do the fence? My understanding is that the builder will not give access to site for external trades until after the hand over. I also have to do a retaining wall. Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4706Sep 21, 2014 7:51 pm I asked our site supervisor and he was completely fine with fencers coming in to do the work. I guess because it is a common boundary it is not something they can hold up. He just said it would be best to wait for the bricking to be done which makes sense. We will need a 300mm retaining wall down part of one side too.. The ss did say not to bother getting the other boundary fencing done yet tho, he said it's just better in case it gets damaged. Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4707Oct 08, 2014 6:09 pm Hi everyone we are building the benham 33. Would like to have a look at some of the blogs if you guys have one? We are building in mulgoa rise. Land has just registered! Hooray! Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4708Oct 12, 2014 7:17 pm Hi Leksie5000 We haven't gone any further as of yet (still saving to have a buffer for rent for the duration of the build). We have been to visit the display home though - torture! Are you also doing a knock down rebuild? Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4709Nov 17, 2014 2:42 pm Hi everyone, I have a plumbing/plastering question. Has anyone had their fridge cavity plumbed for a fridge with a ice/water dispenser? If so what does it look like? I don't know that the rough edged hole in the wall with a clip on/removable plastic cover really cuts it. Especially since when the fridge is connected, the cover will be off, leaving a rough unfinished hole in the wall. I know it is behind the fridge, so it isn't visible but it still seems to me like an unfinished job. Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4710Nov 20, 2014 10:03 pm That doesn't sound right. Can't really take a picture without pulling the fridge out now but I'm pretty sure there wasn't any hole. Should be similar to the one under the laundry cupboard Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4711Nov 21, 2014 3:26 pm Definitely not a hole with a plastic cover. I would say that isn't finished. And hope no one turns the mains on! My finished water point looks similar to the one for the washing machine. Like a tap without a spout. Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4712May 01, 2015 2:27 pm Anyone know how long after the walk through inspection do they hand over the keys? We have ours next fri, so hoping we get the keys the week after as long as all the problems are fixed I guess?
