Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our Benham 33 journey 61Mar 28, 2012 3:49 pm Definitely look forward to seeing the costing on the Kitchen changes. The kitchen and bathrooms are the areas that im most concerned with because they are the big upgrades haha My hubby jumped on here last night and read thru the thread and has now decided he wants a pull out bin in the Kitchen and is wishing we changed the ceilings haha Yes I'm a bit in love with the shoe rack idea We are going to do all the shelving in the WIR ourselves (thru somewhere like Ikea of course) But we raised the shelves in the others to 1.8 instead of the 1.6 Does anyone know if any of the kitchen changes HAD to be done at tender? (If you aren't moving/changing walls etc) My very first blog http://benham33.blogspot.com.au/ Re: Our Benham 33 journey 62Mar 28, 2012 4:42 pm I think you can change it at the internal appointment, they'll tell you to go and meet with the kitchen company and draw up changes, the same with the ceilings, I think you'd be able to get a variation at anytime before the building contract is issued. We have been in our new place about 3 months and if your hubby wants bins I would recommend the same as mine on the back of the door. I can't tell you the brand as the lady at the kitchen company said "trust me I know what you want". They are 2 x 20lt and have a plastic square thing that fits over the top of the bag to hold it down. I store the liners and garbage bags etc in the drawer underneath. Excellent and expensive but must have. Now you see it. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Now you don't. In the Clifton 31 which we're looking at, the default depth of the linen cupboard shelving is 450mm and the walk in pantry is 1250mm deep (not including door/walls) - though the shelves are again, 450mm deep. Re: Our Benham 33 journey 66Mar 29, 2012 1:00 pm Sixor our walkin pantry is 1.1m deep and 2.5m wide We have 3 different Linen cupboards.. I honestly can't see my self using all three of them.. Hmm I'm thinking about maybe deleting the shelves in the one next to the laundry and using it for storage of the vacuum etc.. Grumblebum54 (PS Love the name ) Was that all done through the rawson kitchen people? My very first blog http://benham33.blogspot.com.au/ Re: Our Benham 33 journey 67Mar 29, 2012 1:11 pm Tarsha thanks for the tips re bricks - ps i love the brick colours and colorbond you've selected...i find it such a daunting task!! we're building in Sydney Metro area in Arncliffe...we've got the Majestic facade with the Benham but its hard picking the colours and the render to match....such a massive decision. All i literally do nowadays is drive past houses and look at bricks, mortar and roofing! ahaha I cant even think about tiles yet but I am glad to see you guys are giving tips on it! Re: Our Benham 33 journey 68Mar 29, 2012 1:54 pm Koroboo Sixor, are you planning to actually have a walk in linen, or are the shelves going to just be really deep. In the Clifton 31 which we're looking at, the default depth of the linen cupboard shelving is 450mm and the walk in pantry is 1250mm deep (not including door/walls) - though the shelves are again, 450mm deep. hmmm thats a good question actually... a walk in linen isn't really necessary if the shelving is still the same 450mm size. The picture i took of the 3 door linen cupboard is actually from the Clifton 31 on display! Fantastic house. Tarsha - Thanks for letting me know We'll probably make the linen cupboard in the laundry have space for ironing board etc Re: Our Benham 33 journey 69Mar 29, 2012 2:42 pm A walk-in linen could be useful, you do get the 'side shelves' as storage, consider it being a 'U' shape. Thus you can have smaller doors, and possibly use 2 instead of that weird 3 door design that I dislike on the Clifton display. That's all provided you have the depth available. Re: Our Benham 33 journey 70Mar 29, 2012 6:58 pm Hi, So nice to find some other Rawson Home Builders. We are about to start our contruction stage, Building the Clifton 30 ( not on display anywherealthough the clofton 31 is on display at Kellyville ) with the Cabarita Mstr Bedroom ( to fit on our block ) and some other changes on top of it. We have built 2 homes with Eden BRae before prevuisly. I think I am a little addicted. We have finally approval through council for the home, pool is still causing problems but hey it will get in there somehow. We are expecting pegs and survyed block anyday..These last few days have been the hardest waiting for the first bit of dirt to be moved. Look forward to hearing on your experiences and sharing ours... Re: Our Benham 33 journey 71Mar 30, 2012 1:30 am Sorry I didn't build with Rawson, we live south of Sydney and I don't think they build down here. Just like to offer advise to anyone who asks. I researched the bin and pretty sure it is made by Hideaway. http://www.hideawaybins.com.au/ I think any kitchen company will add what you want as long as you pay for it. I just realised your kitchen layout is almost the same as mine. Here's what we did. Thats exciting that the approval has come through. Can't wait until we finally get ours.. It will make it official Lucky bugger - getting a pool Just wanted to say as well that I'm loving all the tips that are on here!! It's great to be able to put ideas out there and get feedback from people that are doing similar things My very first blog http://benham33.blogspot.com.au/ Re: Our Benham 33 journey 73Apr 01, 2012 6:30 am A bit disappointed, I went to the tile place yesterday, the guy there was so rude, and told me he didn't have time to help me, and randomly pointed at tiles that could be in our range. So I wandered around, none the wiser! I was after a specific price on a tile, I asked him for the pricing, and he said he'd call me with a price that afternoon... he didn't call... I hope we don't get him for our tile consultation!! We received our contract on Thursday, so we've got a bit of reading to do!! I'd be complaining or asking for another sales person Thats great that you have your contract though My very first blog http://benham33.blogspot.com.au/ Re: Our Benham 33 journey 79Apr 01, 2012 2:47 pm We popped into the Tile place in Seven Hills yesterday morning and the guy there (Luke I think) was really helpful, however he said we did manage to catch him between appointments and so could ask a fair few questions. He showed us the standard Rawson range, and I asked about a number of different changes and rough costs for things. He also mentioned that Saturday's they really only had staff on hand to deal with people's appointments, so no one really spare to answer off the cuff questions from people who 'drop in'. Re: Our Benham 33 journey 80Apr 01, 2012 7:35 pm Koroboo - Glad your service was a bit better than mine. Did you manage to find tiles that you liked? Sounds like poor business practice to only have staff on hand to deal with appointments, Saturdays are the only days that people can get in there to have a look, and we can't get an appointment until we're at framed stage. So it's a bit of a tricky one.
