How was PCI? Our driveway is done and we have a ceiling again! Hooray! Timber flooring goes in tomorrow and carpet on Saturday. Ceiling is being repainted next week and all the paint touch ups will be done then too. Looking like PCI next Friday and handover the week after. Finally! Feels good to be making progress again, although a little sad because we should be enjoying our new home by now. Landscaping has started too with paving today and fencing starting tomorrow. At least most of the landscaping will be done by the time we move in. Only good things to come from here! Thanks Munchi... Very happy to see you have a PCI date after the air-con problems. I couldn’t believe what I saw when you posted those pictures... and our aircon isn’t in yet so now I'm worried! Our PCI went well, it was mainly touch up for painting. We had an informal walk through 2 weeks ago and picked up the major things. Have you checked your kitchen and bathroom vanities? We had a lot of scratches on ours from traides rubbing against it or leaving tools on them. Our SS did mentioned having a black kitchen would mean a lot of the little scratches stand out alot more - I thought of you straight away. Ours is mat-brown and it shows up little scratches and marks easily. Rawson said they will replace all the scratched items which is great, but there is a 1 to 2 week lead-time so it was lucky we picked them up before PCI as we would not have a chance of being in within the 2 weeks if didn’t get on to this early. If you haven’t had a good look at this yet I recommend taking a rag or something and checking all of this ASAP. I'd hate to see you delayed again. Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4513Mar 14, 2014 7:05 am rawson_k pinny Can anyone with a tiled roof tell me whether rawson paint the valleys? Our roof was done today and the valleys are silver.. Roof is dark grey and they are an eyesore to say the least! Hi pnny, yes they do paint them. I was also concerned as we have a black roof too. It was one of the last things done by the painter for our house. Thanks Rawson_K thats great to know.... will still bring it up with the SS to make sure he on top of it. Thanks for the tip our the kitchen and vanities too... we are having black as well. Looking forward to seeing more pics of your home soon. Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4514Mar 14, 2014 8:55 pm Thanks Pinny. I have a few photos from today so I'll put them on the blog tomorrow. Thanks rawson_k. I think our PCI will blow out a few days due to the delay in getting the painter back but handover should be about the same. We did discover another issue today at our visit. More water. It's gotten behind the waterproofing and found a tiny spot that wasn't waterproofed properly and has escaped near our bathroom door threshold. Not happy. We've discussed with our SS and we're willing to let them finish everything bar the carpet in that area so we can handover in two weeks. We'll allow the floor to dry properly before getting them back to lay the carpet in that area. Realistically it's better for us to live without the 2m of carpet than potentially have to rent (with basically no furniture in our house..) for another month.. Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4515Mar 19, 2014 9:40 am I'm happy to say we have our handover date on the Friday 28th March- so only 9 more days till we have our keys. Saying that, we have a bit to do around the house plus also completing the pool but Its great to be at the end of the massive journey - about 18 months worth of admin and build. Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4517Mar 19, 2014 5:39 pm Sounds like a good day for hangovers Rawson_K because that's when ours is scheduled for too. All going well with the painting that is. As for our little water issue - it dried up over the weekend so our house is fully carpeted . Landscaping is going well too. Fence is up, paving done and the grass goes down on Friday. Then all that's left is a bit of tree planting . Will be very nice to have all that done before moving in . Happy days! Not sure if you meant a day for hangovers or handovers, they both work Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4519Mar 20, 2014 6:22 pm Hi Guys, We are getting close to starting our build and making internal selections and all that fun stuff (we are building the Huntley 30). Couple of questions; - With flooring, did many of you get what you wanted with R's standard range? We have had a quick look at the tile supplier early on but haven't had our appointment yet. We want bigger size tiles (650 or bigger) but we were also considering getting floorboards. For those of you that have floorboards, did you do this through Rawson or organise a credit for the tiles then do it yourself? Can anyone tell me if any of the larger size tiles are included in the standard range? If not how much did it cost you (total) for larger tiles? - Rawson_k We are thinking about getting a pool too. most informal 'quotes' we recieve indicate that it'll cost us 30k for any pool upto about 7x4 (excluding landscaping). Is this the kind of pricing you found too? Thanks Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4520Mar 20, 2014 6:31 pm We had our internals appt in Feb and it was great fun. Tiles less so, there are some laminate flooring options you can have a look at at the internals appt (at least choose one as an option I think they are included). There are some nice large tiles available but they are not in the standard range (expect to pay over $60/sqm for 600x600 tiles). http://camdenbuild.blogspot.com.au/ by invite only please pm me Any advice on how to ensure the kit home granny flat that im thinking of buying will get council approval.
