Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4315Jan 02, 2014 10:03 pm munchi Ordered some new furniture for the house today! Needed the 12 weeks for all our new lounges to be made. Seriously can't wait to see it all come together. There are some pictures of what we chose up on the blog! Only need a new king bed and some bed room furniture for us and we're all sorted! Happy New Year everyone. . Munchi... we did our shopping also post Christmas. You won't believe we bought our lounge from Nickscali too.. in Walnut. Have to wait until March to get it delivered which means we won't have it during handover. Ordered dining and chairs, coffeee table, entertainment unit from Harvey Norman. A very expensive month indeed. We also got our first electricity overdue notice from Origin delivered to our site. I don't know what they were thinking when they send the bill. Thankfully our neighbour found it delivered at our porch and gave it to us when we visited site on New Years. Cleaners were on site on Christmas eve and they cleaned the house and removed protective coverings from kitchen. Also we couuld find the measurements drawn in for carpets. Cant wait to hassle SS once he is back from holidays Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4316Jan 08, 2014 2:55 pm Happy new year everyone!!! Cant remember when I last updated. We had the plasterers show up a week or so before Christmas and they were going to do all the patching and fix up the void area where it is all cracking from movement. I rung the maintenance manager and said that they could only do the plastering if I could be promised that the painting would also be completed by Christmas as there was no way that I wanted it looking terrible all over the christmas break. I was told that it couldnt be done, so I sent the plasterers away. Monday I was called by the maintenance manager and I explained that we had found some more issues over the Christmas break and was going to engage an independent inspector to check the place and rectification works could go on hold until then. I explained issued and this morning the maintenance manager came out and had a look. The main things are - the termite barrier on one of the front columns is below finished ground level. At the moment we have had to dig the driveway out around the column so as not to cover it up. The maintenance manager has called the termite people today after agreeing that it is not acceptable and the termite people are coming out next week to rectify. The other issues is these d*mn bricks!!! I had the brick cleaner that we use at work to come and have a look at them. He used to subby to Rawson a while ago. He said the bricks are terrible and something that I didnt even notice - the front column that holds up the balcony - it is not straight - like I am talking more than 50mm out. The maintenance manager even said that blind freddy could tell that it was not straight, so he has taken lots of photos and is taking it to the construction manager to see what can be done. Really the only thing that can be done is pulling it down, with the balcony (as that is messy too) and the tops of the other two columns and re-do them. The problem with that - our bricks were fired a year ago and there will not be the same batch available, so therefore the colour will be different. I wonder how they will sort that one out? Another thing that has annoyed me this summer - the aircon unit is uselsess!!!! We have put it to 16 degrees and left it on for hours and hours and the house does not get cool. The only places it does get cool is in the kids rooms that are just over 3.0m x 3.0m - in our bedroom, it barely gets cool and it is not a massive room. For those that are going through the tender process, make sure you check (independently) if the aircon unit that is being supplied is sufficient for your house. We did not do this and assumed that it was suitable for the house. I can understand though that for some who've added significant size changes to the designs, that the default unit would possibly struggle - which as Jen says, is a good idea to check! We had some maintenance work done prior to XMAS, so we have a few bare 'plaster join' work on some walls/ceiling areas. More to be done shortly, as we've had nail/screw pops showing in the ceiling all along one side of the house due to settling. A few other bits and pieces then painting left to do last, hopefully should be all sorted by end-Jan! (wishful thinking). Hope everyone's break was great. We had a number of BBQ's over the XMAS/NYE period and are loving our natural gas powered BBQ, lots of area to entertain is wonderful over our last place. Should also mention that our breakfast bar stools are finally ready for pick up! Going to get them tomorrow, only had to wait 3-4 months Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4318Jan 08, 2014 3:23 pm Which system do you guys have?? We are getting the Daikin Ducted Split System Premium Inverter – FDYQ160 Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4319Jan 09, 2014 6:39 am Jen1977 The other issues is these d*mn bricks!!! If blind freddy can see it, did they just ignore it? I agree with you getting your own inspection done, Jen. Put it all down now and push back to get whatever needs fixing now . Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4320Jan 09, 2014 11:56 am Well unhappy new year everybody Jen all i feel is disgust and sadness at the amount of issues you have had to deal with after all the time and money you have spent. I'm feeling like it was a mistake to build with them, it's been 16 months and i'm still not even in my house and have just had the SS rant to my husband to stay offsite when they can't even check that the place is properly locked up. I see no end to this journey of misery with Rawson even when they eventually finish our home it's still not the end with all the maintenance issues we will have. Anyone thinking about going with them - just save yourself the pain. Any advice on how to ensure the kit home granny flat that im thinking of buying will get council approval. The kit home companys wont release plans without a deposit and… 0 7336 of course there are legal avenues. You've already mentioned it. Sue them. I find it odd that lawyers wouldnt be willing to take on the case, given CCT evidence and… 1 23971 "Losers" "humanity" "off time" "your" "top notch" "love symbol" Sounds like ponzo is done using other people's toilets 36 24079 |
