Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4281Dec 06, 2013 7:27 am Concord looks good too.. earthy tone. We also didn't want to upgrade our bricks because we had already modified the house so much to our liking and didn't want to add any further costs Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4282Dec 06, 2013 7:44 am ooh loving that martini!!! We chose that for our walls as well! Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4283Dec 06, 2013 7:48 am JTM Martini is beautiful.. it looks even better with downlights on.. love it Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4284Dec 06, 2013 7:28 pm Glacier- Love your pics, it's all looking great!! We have Martini on the walls and it looks great! Update with us, main floor tiling was finished on Mon. Very happy with it, we went a medium timber look tile. Carpet was finished yesterday. All that's left us painting touch ups and fly screens. We have final inspection Friday (fingers crossed it's all good) and SS said we can expect handover on 19 Dec, if not earlier. Very exciting!! Can't believe we are finally nearing the end of this long drawn out process!! I'm do glad as I'm definitely over the whole building process but seeing it nearly finished makes it almost worth the pain!! Was an awesome feeling to give the real estate notice on our shoebox rental!! I have sooooo much to do, but I'm definitely NOT complaining. Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4285Dec 06, 2013 7:47 pm Congrats Bailey. What a treat to be in your new place for Xmas. PS. We'll be going martini too. Rawson probably just uses it for everyone. http://camdenbuild.blogspot.com.au/ by invite only please pm me Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4286Dec 09, 2013 7:04 pm Congrats Glacier and Bailey on the progress of your houses! I hope to be in a similar position this time next year although I'm probably being over optimistic. We will most likely put in the deposit for the first stage of the tender this week. Question: the price given in the tender consists at a very high level is the price of the (1) base house price, (2) site costs and then (3) extra inclusions on top. Has anyone been able to negotiate (1) the base house price at the tender stage? Or are these fixed and the only negotiation is whether to upgrade inclusions or not? Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4287Dec 10, 2013 4:01 pm Got a nice surprise when I went to the block today. Our block has been levelled and the pegs are in. Should have the slab done next week prior to the xmas break all going well. The build is finally under way, seems like a lifetime since I signed the tender. Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4288Dec 10, 2013 4:39 pm Congrats Roadrunner. Pics? http://camdenbuild.blogspot.com.au/ by invite only please pm me Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4289Dec 10, 2013 5:08 pm Congrats roadrunner... Wish that was us but we are still waiting on final plans to be fixed and still no ss assigned yet! Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4290Dec 10, 2013 7:12 pm Our frame was delivered today! WOO HOOO! Stacks of photos on the blog! Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4291Dec 10, 2013 9:03 pm Congrats Bailey.. I really wish we too were in for Christmas. Thanks Akadeft. Congrats roadrunner and sheridianb.. We are another step closer towards completion. The fencing has been taken down. Painters were on site to finish rest of external painting - alfresco, down pipes, Windows, staining facade. I think they completely forgot about painting our feature wall. I will be reminding SS tomorrow. Also need to check with him what's left to to do. The photo of facade is updated on blog. Just looked through your blog - the timeline you've posted has been really helpful in setting timing expectations for our journey. We just paid our block acceptance deposit for CDC. Here we go! Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4294Dec 12, 2013 8:04 am After 2 months of living in our house, it is now complete- landscaping etc! Photos are on my blog Good luck to everyone with their build/ new house Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4299Dec 14, 2013 3:45 pm Congrats S36! Looking great. I'm finding the number of things still 'to do' around the house are piling up! Every weekend I try and knock off 3-5 things, and the list still seems to be endless Such is home ownership! Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4300Dec 15, 2013 5:13 pm Good to see things are going well with everyone's builds. Glacier you're still a few weeks ahead of us which means our builder is making great time really, it usually takes a little longer for a build in the Hunter due to the limited trades and massive travel distances. Your place is looking awesome! Such a. Pity you won't be in by Xmas - you're so close! What's your estimated handover date? Update for us - we were at lock up a few weeks ago. Kitchen, splash back and bench tops are all in and fit he tilers started last week. Electrical has started, gas is done and the painter is back next week. Finally got our garage door last week and we're super happy with the colour match of all our timber accents. The place is looking amazing. We're looking at a handover date at the end off feb - can't come soon enough! It's been a very long 18 months! Updated photos are on the blog and I have a walk through next Tuesday so hopefully I can get some good shots of the bathrooms - floor to ceiling black tiles with black grout.
