Painter finally finished up on Saturday only took him 5 visits to get it right. I now hassle the supervisor weekly to ensure we aren't forgotten. I took voluntary redundancy and was home for 5weeks before I started my new job (on Monday) and told him to make sure it was finished up because I was less flexible now... But no still waiting on the French polisher to come back, a wall in the ensuite to be rectified, a replacement water pump for our tank, brick work to be filled in, acid burnt bricks to be fixed, front door to be looked at by Corinthian. On the 14th of December we will have been in 12months!!! It's hard to believe how quickly that's flown by! Has anyone who has moved into their homes cross checked their air conditioner external unit codes? Only our tender/promotion sheet at the time it had one code and it doesn't match the code on the external unit. R are saying it's the same.... I guess I should call daikin! Either way the air conditioning unit is pretty gutless (we haven't used it since January as downstairs is 23 degrees on the hottest of days without air con!!) when we did use it last it struggled to cool properly.... Built the Seaview 36 with Rawson Homes - Read about it on my blog http://lamaisondemorgan.blogspot.com.au/ Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4174Nov 13, 2013 8:03 am smorgzzz I took voluntary redundancy and was home for 5weeks before I started my new job (on Monday) and told him to make sure it was finished up because I was less flexible now... But no still waiting on the French polisher to come back Sorry to giggle when something's annoying you ... but I just had a mental image of the guy wearing his blue-and-white horizontally-striped skivvy & tightish bell-bottomed pants wearing a red cravat plus a beret & eating his crusty foot-long ham & cheese roll & laughing "haw haw haw" when he was supposed to be doing your polishing ... Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4175Nov 13, 2013 8:41 am Quote: Hence why I wouldn’t recommend them and I'd go for a cheaper builder and hold their hand through the experience. Like I’m doing now. I would disagree with you on that statement. I believe with Rawson the value for money you get is exceptional. We built our house minus floor coverings for $1000m2 - that is unheard of for a two storey house with all the inclusions that we had. My MIL is building a single storey house with another project builder with the inclusions not even being close to what we have and her cost is $1400/m2. Rawson may look expensive from the outside as they give you an all in costs, but if you go with one of the other builders with a base price and add in all the other things you will start to realise that Rawson is not expensive as you think. I think we got a very good house for the money we paid for it. Quote: Has anyone who has moved into their homes cross checked their air conditioner external unit codes? I am going to check this tonight as the other day we had our air on for the first time really and it did not do much and took quite a long time to get cool. With the suppliers bonus we should have had a bigger unit, so I will make sure that it is the correct unit. I would give Daiken a call and see if the unit matches what you have paid for. Admin is not good and believe me it is frustrating. We got through in 136 days, but that was me constantly following up with the CSO. My motto is 'the squeaky door gets oiled' if you leave the CSO to themselves and dont chase them you are going to be forgotten. From what I have been told they are swamped. Rawson advertised for more CSO's when we were going through the admin phase and the response they got was not good. People dont want to work in a job that they get hassled every day. So with there not being enough CSO's the ones that have have too much work. Any communication I had with the CSO was done via email and I have kept every one of them. If I did not get a response I would forward the same email over and over again until I did get a response. I made sure that all decisions were made in a timely manner as to not slow down the process at all. I know it is frustrating, but it will be over soon. The end result is worth it. We have the SS and the maintenance person coming out tomorrow morning at 7am. I was shocked as I only put in my maintenance list a couple of weeks ago. Hopefully it will not drag out as long as it has done for you Smorgzzz Modified Fernside 38 Rawson Homes Blog: http://www.thehousethatmatandjenbuilt.blogspot.com Build Thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=60501 Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4176Nov 13, 2013 9:56 am Jen1977 I believe with Rawson the value for money you get is exceptional. What are you including in that calculation, out of interest; just the house, or alfrescos etc as well? Ours is scarily close to double that (it's about 1900/sqm) if we don't include covered outdoor living area, it's about 1750/sqm if useable outdoor living-area is included & it's about $1680/sqm if I do the standard project-home builder trick of including every single piece of covered verandah-area in the advertised floorspace. I added up the total sqm of the house and divided it by the total cost of the house that we made to the builder. It works out at $994.00/sqm. I have included the garage and the alfresco area. If you take off the alfresco and the garage out of the sqm of the house we are at $1200.00/m2 which is still very cheap. Admittedly though I've just done external colours/revised plans. If I did allow $30k from here though I'd still be at $1184.85. http://camdenbuild.blogspot.com.au/ by invite only please pm me Re: Our Benham 33 journey 4179Nov 13, 2013 11:28 am Quote: Interesting excercise - if I look at everything (including driveway, floor covering, garage, porch etc) I come out at $1085.60 which I'm happy with. I dont want to include the driveway in my costings. It is 400m2 and would be about $40,000 - $50,000 if it was done in plain concrete. If I add in my carpet and tiles and blinds I am at $1035.00/m2 if I include the whole sqm of the house. I think I have gotten a bargain. The sales person that sold us the house, we invited him to our house warming. He no longer works for Rawson and said we got a bargain as the company he works with now (same company my MIL is building with) they would not have even come close to that price. And don't forget recent price rises! You folk all signed with Rawson before we did with Alkira; and it's my belief that Alkira have had two price-rises since our tender, for a total of about 7%. On a $400k-$500k house, that's a significant increase. Any advice on how to ensure the kit home granny flat that im thinking of buying will get council approval.
