I can't believe how bad it is. Glad that you were able to meet with SS. The timeframe is simply unacceptable. Really hoping it is all fixed this time around. I showed hubby and he went out and had a look @ our brickwork. Overall not too bad but there are a few spots that he is going to bring up with SS. Our scaffolding came down this wk, looking very much like a house now. Plumbing and aircon continuing, lower story guttering complete. Noticed scaffolding up for lower roof, hoping it will be done this week. We have taps!!! Lots of little things happening, I don't really care what's happening just as long as its something. Hoping everyone has a productive week : ) Re: Our Benham 33 journey 3870Sep 10, 2013 8:00 pm The brick cleaner spent about 4 hours at the house today and even though he hasn't finished the difference in the house is amazing. I am so relieved. Hopefully the rest of the house looks just as good when it has been cleaned. Why this wasn't done properly in the first place. Would have saved a lot of hassle Modified Fernside 38 Rawson Homes Blog: http://www.thehousethatmatandjenbuilt.blogspot.com Build Thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=60501 Re: Our Benham 33 journey 3873Sep 11, 2013 8:19 am Glad to hear Jen! Though agree, why not just do the job properly in the first place??? well, movement from ours - Site was cut yesterday!! (Photos on blog) and wow... so flat!!! Driveway a little steeper than I had hoped, but may change a little once that do the drop etc there. Thankfully the excavator guy (Lovely Irish man) had a brain and moved the temporary fence away from where he needed to put the dirt. Very pleased! Next.. piers/drainage.. and then slab!!! Re: Our Benham 33 journey 3874Sep 11, 2013 9:55 am JTM - congrats on your site cut. We had the same lovely irish man cut our block. He was very nice and oh my goodness how flat is your block now. I really need to get that man back and so he can make it flat like that again. It was funny as when I pulled up I thought, wow he has a brain.. and then he made a comment about the fencers not having one when it comes to where to put the fence hahah So now they have to come back and put it up where it's meant to go. Re: Our Benham 33 journey 3876Sep 12, 2013 6:10 am Jen, great to hear your bricks are finally being fixed for you. Koroboo- I love your tiles. They are going to look great. Our tiler was supposed to start next week but apparently he is running a week behind Hopefully something else gets done next week instead and the house doesn't just sit there. JTM- congrats on the site cut, hopefully things will move full steam ahead for you now We are finally at lock up now and our kitchen goes in tomorrow!!! One more sleep Jen, how long did it take for PCI once you were at the lock up stage? Re: Our Benham 33 journey 3877Sep 12, 2013 6:39 am B&K our kitchen went in 3/5 and PCI 5/7 - we were delayed as the painters took 2 weeks off half way through our painting. We were also delayed by the tilers as they were so so slow. My SS told me PCI is generally 5 weeks after stone goes in, which for me was a week after the kitchen. My grandfather passed away suddenly so I have been in WA and still trying to catch up on things at home. Tarsha and Jen - I have been using a building inspector. I know Rawson is great and all but when I'm paying as much as I am for a house, I want peace of mind. I went to Peter Moroney at Buildingwise (buildi@buildingwise.com.au), he was quick, thorough and not overly expensive. Would highly recommend. He was recommended to us by friend who built at the Vintage. Update - bricking is still not quite finished, there is still a small section at the back to be completed. There were no brickies on site tuesday or wednesday (were probably on another job, which is annoying). I really just want it finished, it'd be less than half a days work! Roof, gutters and fascia are on. We were told that render should be starting this week and that the stack stone should start sometime in the next week. Aiming to have the scaffold down at the end of the month - not overly confident about that though since they've basically done nothing this week (again, annoying because the weather is PERFECT). Copper pipes for the plumbing were done last week and we decided to have a second rainwater showerhead installed in the ensuite bathroom - can't wait for this, will be AMAZING! Blog and photos are all updated as at yesterday Re: Our Benham 33 journey 3879Sep 12, 2013 10:06 am Sorry to hear Munchi - it's never easy losing a loved one, even if they are meant to go before us. The house is looking good though - with the stacker doors, are they recessed into the slab? Re: Our Benham 33 journey 3880Sep 12, 2013 10:24 am Thanks JTM. He was only young (67) and it turns out he only had pancreatic cancer for two weeks before he died - it was very aggressive and spread very fast. Certainly wasn't the news I was expecting. The house is looking good. The inspector only found a few minor issues which is good . Unfortunately the steel beam above our garage door is holding up the process at the moment - it's 150mm too low (we're one of the first houses with frames from the new supplier so we've had a few teething issues), waiting for the carpenter to come back again to raise it before the bricking can be finished on friday. The corner stacker sits on top of the frame on the brick recess JTM. It's looking much better now that it's been fixed up Any advice on how to ensure the kit home granny flat that im thinking of buying will get council approval.
