My very first blog http://benham33.blogspot.com.au/ Re: Our Benham 33 journey 3146May 24, 2013 8:03 am Hi tarsha,
So sorry to hear about your issues. I hope it all gets sorted out for you. My advise would be to send an email to the customer service manager or some other top bloke and let them know about your grievances. I am 100% sure that they take it dead seriously. I had a word with our sales guy for some of the issues I had and it was all tabled in the sales meeting and its one of the meetings that one of the Rawson brothers apparently attends. He also did mention that they do not get to know the real scenario unless and until someone raises it and brings it to their attention. As far as I know they have revamped the Customer service process since they became aware that they were lacking promptness in getting back to customers. And I can see the difference already in my case. I appreciate the work of my service officer. my humble advise would be to raise this with someone and get things sorted out.'cos you have paid the money for them to do it and you have every right to ask for it. HOpe everything works out for you. Re: Our Benham 33 journey 3147May 24, 2013 8:04 am tarsha678 I've held my tongue because I was hoping everything would be fixed I've had a lot less to lose by annoying someone at Rawson in the process of not holding my tongue ... but I know what you mean with this. It's annoying. You think "maybe it's not really that bad, it's not someone's fault per se, there's just been a communication problem somewhere and I'm just unlucky" ... and then it just keeps happening. You shouldn't need to be a squeaky wheel, but the way project home builders work it seems nothing happens unless you're on them the whole time. And you're 100% correct in saying most people are going to be working to support their home-building habit; our lack-of-trust is high enough that we rented the house 3 doors up (ie. 2 months early) in order to keep an eye on things even though we're both working. It's frustrating ... but just keep squeaking. That's what I intend to do (and am currently doing with everything) ... they probably hate me for it. Re: Our Benham 33 journey 3148May 24, 2013 8:24 am Yea hopefully I can sit down today and write the letter. I was so ready to write a complement because I honestly believed the SS when he said it would all be fixed. I wish it all had been My very first blog http://benham33.blogspot.com.au/ Re: Our Benham 33 journey 3149May 24, 2013 10:38 am Ok so Pictures! So the first ones are the good ones - the things that we are happy with and the general bits of the house My Lovely shoe rack all filled up! Living area Bedroom - Master (we also have lamps in there now as well ) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The pole room!! Our apples on the bench Kitchen with our pendant lights - we haven't put the ones in over the dining room as we are still waiting on the table.. The blinds on our stacker doors The bling in the Bathroom Now for the Cleaning issues from when we moved in The messy paint on the front door that I scraped off by hand This was what every single draw looked like - we pulled them all out and cleaned Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Numerous other things that we spent 2 days cleaning.. And now the things that are still outstanding (some of them anyway) The stone has't been polished properly or something as nothing will remove the distinct mark along the top of the bench Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ One of the paint issues You can see the wood through the paint -this was done after handover however he has not come back to finish it The Fantastic finish on our feature wall! It's not actually straight at all.. The white paint goes onto the feature wall. White on white not noticable white on Grey on the other hand... The marks on our tiles through out the bathrooms and laundry that will not come off no matter how much we scrub and no matter what we use - the tiler says this is the cleaners job the SS says this is the tilers job.. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The grout that has been "fixed" - wrong colour and still really messy the bottom photo is what it should be! Unfortunately my phone doesnt have the best camera... My very first blog http://benham33.blogspot.com.au/ Re: Our Benham 33 journey 3150May 24, 2013 11:26 am Thanks for all the photos Tarsha. I think a lot of those problems come down to the fact that tradies in general don't treat a build as if it's their own house (or have different standards!). As with our tiling, we noted a number of things that are just plain unacceptable, and I'm going to nitpick over the smallest things too, when we get the finishing done. Painting has started so when I go next I'll be checking and double checking everything. Same with the finalised carpentry and gyprocking. I'm sad that you're unable to get a resolution to these issues in a timely manner, as that's the last thing I really want to hang on after handover. Re: Our Benham 33 journey 3152May 24, 2013 1:13 pm Thanks for sharing Tarsha. The lack of cleaning alone is enough to set me off, let alone all the other poor finishes. Keep hastling, it really is not good enough. PS. I love the one shelf for him, the rest for her in the shoe cupboard Building Stroud 30 in Lake Macquarie Re: Our Benham 33 journey 3153May 24, 2013 2:05 pm Your shoe rack tarsha it reminds me of my shoe collection before I had kids. Now it is a bit pathetic, and the heels aren't as plentiful. Apart from the things that need to be fixed - I can now see why you say your paint work is crap - as just those photos show its pretty poor. It is not a spraying issue, it is a lazy issue and they need to be fixed. You my dear have a STUNNING house - I can totally see why everyone that you know loves it. As that's what our place looks like now and the painters are still painting I agree bigted - pathetic effort. MelC was your clean like this? I don't know if you agree but I have found moving in a bitter sweet experience. Whilst I love our new house, I feel upset that we don't have everything complete (especially the dishwasher!) & I asked them over a week ago for window keys & still no response. I consider this to be important as all the windows are locked & maybe we would like to open them! I don't have bins as no one knows where the occupation certificate is and my power was nearly disconnected yesterday as someone @ R chose who our power supplier would be with & the bill was not sent to our rental address & a disconnection notice came yesterday saying if we didn't pay it by the 23rd May (the day it came) it would be disconnected. I called & sorted it straight away. Lucky they built our letterbox (its still not rendered of course!) so we got our mail yesterday. Our SS said that when you start building your CSO is supposed to ask you who your power supplier is and your account number so it's all under our names. This did not happen with us & they would have known about it if the power was discontinued yesterday!! Was anyone else given the decision to choose their own power supplier or even know they have to pay for the power during the build? Anyway that's enough of my ranting lol & Jen my house was not as bad as Tarshas but not much better. I have not stopped cleaning this week & my biggest complaint is that the tradies used our toilets & they didn't even have the cleaners clean them before we moved in!!! Besides all of that I still love our new home & we were fortunate to have a really good SS Re: Our Benham 33 journey 3157May 25, 2013 7:08 am Hi Tarsha, I'm so sorry to hear about your issues with Rawson. It is extremely unprofessional of them. I agree with Glacier that you need to take it further with someone higher up as I really think they should know about this. I'm sure they would want to know too. It puts such a downer on what is supposed to be a very exciting time. You shouldn't have to be on site all the time to make sure they are doing the right thing, unthought that's what the SS was for?? On a positive note, you have an awesome shoe rack, I'm very jealous!!! Genious idea from you!!! Your house does look gorgeous and I love your bed!!! Just keep hassling until you get it all sorted. I know you shouldn't have to but keep at it. I hope everything is resolved ASAP : ) Re: Our Benham 33 journey 3158May 25, 2013 7:58 am Mel my CSO who I have been told no longer works for Rawson, told me as soon as we had a SS that she no longer dealt with us and I have never heard from her again. We received a letter a couple of weeks ago from e energy Australia confirming our electrical connection with them, but that is it. We have not had the opportunity to choose our supplier. I will speak to our SS about the cleaning next week, as I want it clean when I move in.
