Do they give you another set of check plans to go over and then they draw another set of plans that go off to council? Re: Our Benham 33 journey 2962Apr 23, 2013 4:41 pm It's great to hear of more people getting close to starting their build, exciting times ahead Tondar, I hope the first night home with bubs went well like River said enjoy the early moments, the years go by so quick! We are getting the Clipsal Saturn lights & GPO's as well. We put the 2 on the wall where we are putting the Splashback & when the electrician was there on Friday he gave us a free one in the dining area. It's nice to get a freebie! He called us at 6.00am Friday morning about our LED downlights & because my husband is putting them in himself we saved him some work and materials so that's probably why! We are getting closer now, we need the kitchen appliances, driveway, letterbox, kitchen tap & shower rails (overhead rain shower heads installed already) main floor tiles grouted and carpet & we are nearly ready to go! Can anyone tell me how long after PCI you can move in? Will they let you move in even if you still have outstanding issues & are willing to have them fixed when you are moved in? Do they give you another set of check plans to go over and then they draw another set of plans that go off to council? The DA plans go to Council. Once it comes out of Council, they will draw your construction plans to take into account any conditions Council issues so they can get the CC. Once the CC is issued they draw your colour plans. I didnt see the difference between the construction and colour plans... they look identical but the colour plans is what they build of. When did you sign your tender? Been plant shopping the last few days. Today we went to our favourite bamboo place on the Gold Coast and we have bought 20 bamboo plants that will grow 8-10 metres. They are usually $132 a pot and they had them on sale for $15 each. That will sort out the majority of one side of the block - the neighbours are going to be in shock as they are supposed to be very fast growing. We have also bought quite a few other plants, so it will be a full car and caravan on the way back. Your builders are making up for the slow admin phase! We are locked up no garage door yet, but the internal garage door is on. Sliding doors at the back of the house were replaced yesterday and they look just how we wanted them to look. Staircase is in and the kids finally saw their bedrooms. Carpentry fit out is underway with some doors being hung and architraves having already been fit. Our front door has not been fitted, but the door frame is sitting inside and duessel I think you are getting the suppliers bonus door - ours is a pivot. Not sure how that works with the screen door that has to go on the front, but we will see later Modified Fernside 38 Rawson Homes Blog: http://www.thehousethatmatandjenbuilt.blogspot.com Build Thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=60501 Re: Our Benham 33 journey 2969Apr 28, 2013 8:53 am Jen1977 Duessel your roof looks great. Yes, I was only thinking yesterday, they are fast but I can't wait to see the other half of the house. All we have seen is the ground floor. Glad you got the doors sorted. I have to ask our SS tomorrow re our family room sliding door. We didn't want to spend the money to get Bi-Folds or Stackers, the cost was just too much for us. We noticed yesterday that the doors and glass panels are sitting in the kitchen and only 1 of the sliding door has a large black handle and lock. With them being pushed open to the left and right, i.e. meeting and opening from the middle, shouldn't 2 panels have handles with handles meeting in the middle rather than just one? Any ideas? I should have the Internet on Monday and be able to post a better update.. Duessel our doors meet in the middle and only one has a handle My very first blog http://benham33.blogspot.com.au/ Re: Our Benham 33 journey 2971Apr 28, 2013 2:22 pm Belle and Dave- we must be at the same stage as you guys as we got our first call from our SS this week too and will hopefully have excavators by the end of next week. I cannot wait to see some thing happening on our land. How exciting!! Re: Our Benham 33 journey 2972Apr 28, 2013 2:32 pm Glad you are happy with the new doors Jen, they would make a big difference to the house. Also congrats on reaching lock-up. I can't wait until our staircase is in to see upstairs. Did anyone see upstairs before the staircase was put in? Dusseldorf your roof looks great, they are moving fast with your build! Tarsha I hope you are all settled into your lovely new home, look forward to seeing some more pics! Good luck to those starting on site this week. Re: Our Benham 33 journey 2973Apr 28, 2013 3:09 pm We still haven't had a call from our SS and according to our CSO he got our file early not last week but the week before. Hoping we get a call this week, I wanna start already!!!! : ) Re: Our Benham 33 journey 2974Apr 28, 2013 9:33 pm Very nice Dussel... looks like a real home now. Well done. Jen good news on lock up. Should start seeing some good progress now. Well.... we are almost bricked up! Hopefully we will see a roof and some clad soon. Sooo.. we drove past our block on Saturday morning and the brickies were there bricking up our garage. Having a real close look it seemed the bricking to the garage was totally inconsistent with our plans- we paid extra to have the top of the garage line lifted so it could be in line with the window seal on the other side of the front facade and because our top floor over steps the garage, we didnt want more than 5 rows of bricks separating the garage from the top floor. They were however bricking the garage no where near the height it should have been at. It seems the steal beam was about 30cm too low and the brickies thought it was right to go. A call to our SS who was out fishing at 7am in the morning... 20 mins later the garage was knocked down. Thank God... Hopefully the beam will be lifted tomorrow and the bricking will then be complete. Re: Our Benham 33 journey 2975Apr 29, 2013 5:53 am Duessel your roof looks great and you are progressing really well. I hope you get to see the other half of the house very soon Bailey I feel your frustration and I hope you get that phone call today. S36 that is great that they pulled your brick work down straight away and also that your SS answered that time of the morning on a Saturday! Good luck to everyone starting their builds this week Jen great news on being locked up and your doors being changed. I hope you had a nice holiday and you certainly got a bargain with the plants. We are putting bamboo plants in our backyard as well as my husband really likes them. We have made a merbau screen for outside our main bathroom window & and we will put the bamboo plants in front of it. Tarsha I hope everything is going well in your new home. Well I received an email from Rawson on Friday with an invoice for the final payment and saying that we have a PCI on Wednesday. I'm a bit confused as we are not finished & the cleaners also started on Saturday. I imagine that there will be a lot of activity today & tomorrow! I asked my SS last week if I can hand in my notice to the real estate & he said not yet but I am going to do it today as I am sure we will be in by 4 weeks at the absolute latest! We are also up to week 26 now so they are running out of time & I think that's why they sent the email wrapping it up & wishing us luck in our new home. It said that they have 5-10 days after PCI to get the major things completed. So it looks like I might get my Mother's Day gift we installed our frameless shower screens on Saturday & they look fantastic. We also dug a big hole along the front for our hedges (our street has to have hedges as we are the first street in our estate) The tilers finished on Friday as well and its all starting to look finished now, I can't wait for the carpet & kitchen appliances to go in! Re: Our Benham 33 journey 2976Apr 29, 2013 9:49 am We also (kinda) had lockup last week, though the back stacker-door isn't on yet, the front door and the garage->house door are. Went past the house yesterday, and someone had jimmied opened our temp fence and the front door was opened and unlocked. Did a quick check around and nothing seemed damaged or broken, but will be letting the SS know Re: Our Benham 33 journey 2977Apr 29, 2013 10:00 am Not good Koroboo - thank goodness nothing is damaged or taken. Met with SS today at the house today. Fixout continues this week and waterproofing on Wednesday. Kitchen at the end of the week. Tiling starts at the beginning of next week. Been given a handover time of approx end of june beginning of july.
