Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 11, 2012 9:38 pm Hi All We have an option by our builder to install NBN Connection pre lay so when we get ncn in our area we are set up.... Is it worth $570 to get done or leave it and get it done later when NBN is available in our area??? Re: NBN Connection Prelay - is it worth it 2Mar 11, 2012 10:42 pm my impression was that NBN co would connect it to your home interconnection point for free. This is like the old telephone socket I think. Not sure how to read it though. from http://www.nbnco.com.au/getting-connect ... -faqs.html How much is it going to cost me to wire my home for the NBN? The minumum requirement for NBN Co network to be installed is to ensure that a lead-in pipe is located from the pit in the street to the home and then for a communications conduit to be supplied from the exterior of the home directly into the home to NBN Co guidelines. The cost of this work will vary depending on your builder/cabler. From the equipment located in the home (Network Terminating Device) all costs thereafter are variable based upon what the individual customers needs may be. These requirements will need to be discussed with your builder. What equipment gets installed at my home? NBN Co will install within your home a Network Terminating Device (NTD) and Power Supply Unit (PSU) which also includes the Battery Backup unit. The Battery Backup should provide you with a total of approximately 5 hours of backup battery power without mains power under typical circumstances which can be accessed to make calls over a standard non-powered telephone connected to one of the voice ports in an emergency. The location of these devices will need to be discussed with your builder. 3 48409 Hi all I'm currently building a duplex in Sydney and we need to do a new water connection to the second unit.
