Hi everyone!
We have found the perfect 10 acre block of land, and now we are starting to get our ideas together for the build.
We want to build a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom home out of concrete, set into the ground by excavating out the north-facing slope and building right up against the earth. At the southern side of the house, the roofline will be at ground level. We want to building to be completely passive - no heating or cooling required.
We also want to avoid having power connected. We want to be able to manage with solar, batteries & a generator. Same goes for town water.
We want to use as many recycled, sustainable building materials as possible. Reuse from demolition sites, industrial/farm rubbish, that kind of thing. I love the rusty, the worn, aged and weathered!
We don't have a builder nailed down (pardon the pun). Can't find anyone advertising doing this kind of build in SE QLD...
Would love to hear from anyone who has completed a project like this, or is having a go at it themselves. We have never built before, and really don't know what to expect. It's an adventure, for sure!
Cheers, Ruth
