Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 08, 2012 9:41 pm Hi guys We're finalising the plan and while I am happy with the general layout of the house (and room sizes), I'm still a little uncertain about how we should layout the bathroom. It's getting to crunch time, so we need to figure this. Main bathroom is 2800 x 2850, ensuite is 2400 x 2220. Doors are 870mm. Toilets are behind half height nib walls to give them a bit of privacy. Advice or suggestions are welcome. Hit me with all your wisdom and experience! TIA! Peta Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ 2010, June : Land bought (1700sqm, battleaxe block). Re: Please help with bathroom layout 2Mar 08, 2012 9:47 pm In the bathroom - why not run your bath under the window and enter the shower with it's doorway that faces the toilet and then pull you vanity up where the bath is now? Also - I think the ensuite is fine the way it is!!! Good luck! Agree with this. Bath near doorway not ideal. Sleven - do you mean run the bath tub along the outside wall or simply swap position with the vanity? 2010, June : Land bought (1700sqm, battleaxe block). That's it so far! Re: Please help with bathroom layout 5Mar 09, 2012 12:46 pm If possible I would run the bath along the wall with the window and then the vanity in the same orientation as it is now just in the place of the bath. Re: Please help with bathroom layout 6Mar 09, 2012 1:14 pm I agree with running the bath along the window wall and vanity in same direction as it currently is - this layout would also allow you make the vanity even bigger if you wanted. In the ensuite I think I might be inclined to move the door a little further along the wall and swing the door the other way (hard to say without seeing the rest of the plan). The toilet is essentially hidden behind the half wall, I think it would make the space seem bigger and more open!! Just a thought! Re: Please help with bathroom layout 7Mar 09, 2012 1:21 pm Agree with what has been said above about main bath room. Ensuite I'd be having a double vanity-there's room for it! Ensuite I'd be having a double vanity-there's room for it! Yes, I'm aiming for a double sink vanity for the ensuite. For the main bathroom, I'm seriously considering same size vanity (1500mm) but keep a single sink. We have two girls, so that would give them plenty of space to do hair/makeup. Not sure a double sink would be worthwhile in the main bathroom. Am trying to swing bathtub down to the window. Might need to go down to a 1500mm bath to do it maybe.... 2010, June : Land bought (1700sqm, battleaxe block). That's it so far! We're in the design phase .... Re: Please help with bathroom layout 9Mar 09, 2012 9:36 pm Okay, here's my handdrawn attempt. What do you think? http://i1029.photobucket.com/albums/y358/Pete_n_Pet/58KenibeaAve-bathroomrevision2012-03-09001.jpg Originally shower is 1000m x 1000m. If I swing the 1700mm bathtub down under the window, it might shrink the shower a little in one direction (maybe 50mm?). I have also swapped the showerhead orientation. I think there is room for two double towel rails (money permitting, might change one to a heated towel rail), clothes baskets, little bin, etc. Quote: I agree with running the bath along the window wall and vanity in same direction as it currently is - this layout would also allow you make the vanity even bigger if you wanted. I think 1500mm for the vanities is plenty big enough. 2010, June : Land bought (1700sqm, battleaxe block). That's it so far! We're in the design phase .... Possibly both depending on the sizing. Idea of working from the centre is that you dont have a 20mm thin tile at one end and a 400mm at the other end. A quick search on… 3 8423 You never have a fridge against wall as you’ve drawn.
