Our Blog: http://porterdavismontague21.blogspot.com.au/ Re: Porter Davis Upgrades and Costs 162May 17, 2013 3:27 pm Back Pocket Mumtomonkeys That's exactly how I feel! I'm so disappointed I had such high regard and expectations and that's diminished since my visit to hopetoun. Compared to other volume builders, their selection showroom is very poor, to say the least. I'm waiting on my SC to get back to me. Been waiting over a week, she's either got appointments, is in meetings, or simply isn't addressing my concerns. Honestly, pretty close to cutting my losses Total downer Funny mine is the other way around my SC is still helping me get answers because my BC only knows one word, if she can be bothered replying, and it's "no", "no we can't" , "no we don't". I have learnt from previous builds you just have to work the system and go around roadblocks. If you want the house enough, you either put up with it, work around it, or cut your losses. Depending what range you are building there are different suppliers. For example, Ask who the plumbing supplier is, then check out their website and tell PD what you want. It maybe more expensive because they do not get deals on all products but at least then you can work out if it is worth the cost. Hope it gets better for you We also had issues with our B/C, marjor issues before we even had a S/S luckily our sales consultant Esther down at williams landing went over and beyond any sales consaultant should ever have to and was there for us when we felt let down! we changed B/C's and since have had a great experience! our new B/C and S/S are great!! sure not everything has been perfect! but its such a major project and things have been addressed very quickly! im sure happy dont give up Mumtomonkeys!! it will be worth it in the long run! if you want the house bad enough! we are at hoping to be at lockup by end of month!! our place is 60sq's so its a pretty big project! but its so worth it now! Re: Porter Davis Upgrades and Costs 163May 17, 2013 3:34 pm Thanks Natasha8850. If it wasn't for our sales consultant who is now at harcrest we would not even be at this stage. She has really gone the extra mile and chased up things repeatedly for us, getting information. Ridiculous that the sales people have to do the BC job as well. Re: Porter Davis Upgrades and Costs 164May 22, 2013 11:26 pm Hi! Does anyone have pricing on upgrading to vinyl wrap kitchen? Building the Porter Davis Dunedin 29 maybe, thinking of forfeiting deposit and going with CH or UE Re: Porter Davis Upgrades and Costs 165May 22, 2013 11:43 pm We had contract Monday and can just say Whoo Hooo! Love austral bricks! Cat 2 upgrade for two storey with triple garage was only $1727. Boral cat 4 was going to cost $5000. We have a lot of upgrades will post tomorrow when I have a real keyboard. Re: Porter Davis Upgrades and Costs 166May 22, 2013 11:46 pm Wow! That's a big win. So, which bricks did you choose? Building the Porter Davis Dunedin 29 maybe, thinking of forfeiting deposit and going with CH or UE Re: Porter Davis Upgrades and Costs 167May 22, 2013 11:51 pm Hi mumtomonkeys, we chose the harvest cotton from austral. The only Boral brick we liked was eaglemont - cat 4 and it was really the one we could live with rather than "had to have". Really happy with austral as we had a couple of choices we liked. Re: Porter Davis Upgrades and Costs 168May 23, 2013 12:27 am Love that brick! Great choice Building the Porter Davis Dunedin 29 maybe, thinking of forfeiting deposit and going with CH or UE Re: Porter Davis Upgrades and Costs 169May 28, 2013 8:10 am Mumtomonkeys, I don't have an accurate quote on vinyl wrap, but I was told that for the Montrose, which doesn't have any overhead cabinets, it would be $1500-$2000. I was a bit confused about kitchen upgrades because I was told we couldn't have silk finish with ABS edging, it had to be vinyl wrap upgrade, which contrasts what I have read on here, and also seen in a display. I'm trying to get an answer because I want to add it but don't want vinyl wrap. If you have built with PD and can recall any extras whether it be brick upgrades, tiles, electrical, doors etc etc, please post your variations. Hi! Great idea. We have a whole lot of extras that i didn't want to type up here again (it took me ages to put together!) - but we are writing a blog about our entire PD experience and the extras part we just added yesterday is located at http://buildingwithporterdavis.com/options/. Let me know if you need anything further! Re: Porter Davis Upgrades and Costs 171May 31, 2013 1:25 pm Hi Dave I just had a look at your blog.. Did you get all of your windows double glazed? or just some? We are waiting on a quote from our BC but she was insinuating that the cost was about $10-$20k!! YIKES! We are building the Rochford (43 sq) so not too different from the Sandarah... Just wondering if you had any other info about it.. Thanks Mands. Re: Porter Davis Upgrades and Costs 172May 31, 2013 2:51 pm ajd, that costing doesn't surprise me. To my knowledge it would cost you that much to have double glazing done privately too.... Hi ajd Our house is 35sq and the double glazing to all windows is around 6K, originally our SC said to allow around 12K, so we were pleasantly surprised. We don't have a lot of massive windows though. It obviously depends on the size and style of your windows (ie facade choice). Good luck Re: Porter Davis Upgrades and Costs 174Jun 14, 2013 4:56 pm Hi, Does anybody know if the standard Brivis ducted heating is the same for the access, lifestyle and prestige homes? We are building a lifestyle home and I thought the standard was a MX35i and to upgrade to the HX35i was around $710?? Has anybody upgraded their ducted heating to the HX35, and how much did it cost? Re: Porter Davis Upgrades and Costs 175Jun 14, 2013 5:26 pm Hi Corz11, we are building lifestyle. The standard is different for different size homes as I understand it. We were charged: Provide programmable thermostat to ducted heating unit $ 220.00 Provide 2 zone controls to double story ducted heating system $ 864.00 Provide Hx30I Heating upgrade in lieu of standard 2PW26 $ 1,414 The last price is for two upgrade steps, from standard to the Mx then to the Hx Hope this helps Re: Porter Davis Upgrades and Costs 176Jun 15, 2013 2:30 pm Back Pocket Hi Corz11, we are building lifestyle. We too are building lifestyle. Pricing for the Programmable themostat and the 2 zone controls are the same as Back Pocket as mentioned here, however our upgrade from 2PW26 to Hx30l is $1886.00. Beats me how ours could be over $450 more expensive for exactly the same thing!!!! Re: Porter Davis Upgrades and Costs 177Jun 16, 2013 2:09 pm Back Pocket Hi Corz11, we are building lifestyle. Just checked our contract for our price and they've put us down for the MX30i instead of the HX30i (and for the HX price!!!). We asked for the HX in our emails so am sending off an email to BC so that they can rectify that. We were quoted $1386 to upgrade to the HX30i from the 2PW20. Thought while they are there doing the variation we'd also get the programmable controller put in too and a vent put in both the ensuite and bathroom. Certainly pays to go over everything with a fine tooth comb. Time to re-read our contract I think...
