Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 05, 2012 4:35 pm We began the process of searching for a new home design to build on a block in an established estate which had a house to be demolished. We started the process with AV Jennings in May 2010 with a brief for them to return with a house design which met our specifications and would fit on the block that we had. After a lot of back and forth and fantastic service from an enthusiastic and knowledgable sales consultant we finally signed a contract on 30th September 2011. The existing house was demolished at the end of October 2011 and we thought we would be full steam ahead from that point. We are now at the beginning of March 2012 and still have not been issued with a building permit or start date. I am hoping that recording our progess on here will help other people going down the building process, and will also save my sanity during the time we are watching our new home come to life. I would love to hear from others who are building or have built with Jennings both good and bad experiences. With everything crossed I am hoping that I will not be starting my next post with "Still no start date" Re: AV Jennings/Sekisui Piazza 250 (with our own touch) 2Mar 13, 2012 11:17 am Hi Jem 6401. I cant imagine how frustrating that must be, especially at such an exciting time when you just want everything to be go-go-go. I havent started building yet, infact, I dont even have land, but after 1 solid year of looking for a house that the partner and I would love to spend a lifetime in, we have chosen the Piazza 300. We loved the 270 as soon as we saw it the very first time but thought we better look around and consider all options, but nothing compared to it! So after a year and over probably 150 houses being looked at, we are 110% confident in our choice. Whilst we have never seen the Piazza 300 in the flesh we know what to expect and ideally we will start building before the year is up! So basically, I am glued to anyones build posts about their experiences with AV Jennings/Sekisui House. I really hope everything begins for you soon, I know the initial council approvals ETC can be timely. I really cant wait to hear about your progress and see photos etc. I hope you keep this thread going with all your updates!! No Land Yet Building AV Jennings Piazza 300 Should Have Land/Start Construction By End Of 2012 Re: AV Jennings/Sekisui Piazza 250 (with our own touch) 3Apr 03, 2012 9:22 am Building permit was finally issued on the 15th of March, and the build has started. With everything crossed the slab will be laid before Easter, it is very exciting to finally drive up to the block and see something happening. As we live very close we drive past at least once every couple of days and each time there is a change. Re: AV Jennings/Sekisui Piazza 250 (with our own touch) 4Apr 15, 2012 11:22 pm Hello How exciting and a big congrats on the build! We moved into our Piazza 250 last December and love it. We have had a great Customer Service Rep who helped so much. The only thing I would suggest is to make sure you check your gutters and make sure the tiles are not too far forward. We are having issues with them now being under Australian Standards. I will let you know how it will all pan out. Let us know how you go and if you have any questions feel free to pm me. All the best Re: AV Jennings/Sekisui Piazza 250 (with our own touch) 9Apr 20, 2012 3:45 pm Congratulations on progression of work. I'm sure you will find it moving full steam ahead from here. I'm also in SA and we're building in Mt Barker with Sekisui/AV Jennings. We are still awaiting action on our block and like you, we have had long delays. We were told something would have happened by now but alas nothing. Hope that now they've started yours, they'll be heading on to ours My thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=55859 First time build = excellent. Second time build = frustrating. 23/4/12 Block Cut Re: AV Jennings/Sekisui Piazza 250 (with our own touch) 10Jun 14, 2012 6:19 pm Just thought I would post an update of where we are at. Everything started on the 27th March, and we have just reached 'lock up' stage. I have been really happy with the progress so far. We are lucky and are only 5 mins from our build, and go and check progress on a regular basis, and it has been really exciting watching the progression. We receive a regular update from our site manager and a weekly email from our customer service rep on progress. We have a few issues with the finish inside, and have schedule a site visit with the site manager this week, so hopefully will be able to get these resolved without a lot of hassle. The service we were getting from AV/Sekisui after contract signing and before commencement was really poor. Communication was terrible, and I understand this was to do with staffing issues. This seems to have been resolved and certainly since the build started we have been really happy. Hope everything else from now on, goes smoothly. Normally you use builders bog.
