Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 05, 2012 3:31 pm Hi all, I'm currently building a new home and will be getting polished floorboards in hallway and living areas. The garage ****** next to the hallway and the floor height sits around 2ft lower than the slab for the hallway. My issue that looks like rearing it's head is the gap between the wall and the floor. As it stands the framework sits approx. 1.5 inches from the edge of the hallway slab and now that the gyprock has gone up I can't see how they plan on filling the gap between the slab and the wall. Our site manager has suggested that they would put a thicker skirting board down, but for this to work it would need to be about an inch thick. While it's all been helpful up to this stage, we are getting to a point where we seem to be bumping heads. I'm not happy with a thicker skirting board and the builder is suggesting that polished concrete is a bad idea and that their houses are designed so that floorboards cover the gap. Any ideas on where I stand in all this? And is there an easy way to fix this situation? I was thinking a double layer of gyprock may be the answer but then we'd have issues with the front door lining up properly. I will post pictures when I get home tonight. Thanks in advance guys and girls. the conduit would need to be undamaged regardless of what network is in play. The conduit needs to be able to have fibre run through it. NBN and Opticomm are just… 4 2881 thanks Chippy, i hope they have applied sealer but i am doubt to be honest, so i am gonna do this job after handover. 8 16268 |
