Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 04, 2012 8:04 pm HI All, We are planning on provisioning our front yard to run some future garden lights and LED lighting to our feature letterbox. And we would like for these lights to turn on when the front down lights, under the eaves turn on of a night. Having said that, our driveway and side path is soon to be formed up and poured, as soon as the rain subsides, and therefore we need to run some conduit piping underneath the proposed driveway, too the proposed garden beds, and into the house! So my question is; where is the best point where the conduit should penetrate into the brick wall, for the future cabling to run up and connect to the down lights under the eaves? Are there standards to adhere to when doing this? I will have an electrician actually feed the cabling and connect to the down lights etc in due course. Should it go in the side of the house, perhaps garage side wall? should the conduit piping be visible, coming up through the side path? Any advice would be great Thanks all Built the Havana 3 by McDonald Jones Homes Re: Help with - Future Garden Lighting 2Mar 05, 2012 11:29 am I can't say for certain what the best place to enter the house would be unless I saw your home but if you run LED lights there shouldn't bee too much of a problem. LED lights generally run on 12V so in most cases there is no compliance necessary due to low voltage. I would however consult a professional about where to bring the cabling into your home as you don't want water coming in as well. You’re right, how can you give advice as to where I should penetrate into the house with out seeing the plan! Attached below. I am planning on running from the letter box directly underneath the driveway, then diagonally out towards where the meter box is on the left hand side of the house, then into the bricks..? What do you reckon?
