Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 03, 2012 4:45 pm Hello All, A month ago we did our colour selection appointment with our builder, we dont need to sign tender until first week of April so i have some time to get things 100% correct. Since our colour selection something hasnt been sitting right with me and i was hoping on getting your opnion, just to make sure im not going completly mad!.... Here are the colours Roof - Tiled - Caper http://i477.photobucket.com/albums/rr139/melfordgurl/House%20Colours%20and%20Selections/Traditional_Tiles-Caper.jpg Gutters - Paperbark http://i477.photobucket.com/albums/rr139/melfordgurl/House%20Colours%20and%20Selections/GuttersFacia.jpg Fascia - Paperbark http://i477.photobucket.com/albums/rr139/melfordgurl/House%20Colours%20and%20Selections/GuttersFacia.jpg Downpipes - Jasper Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Garage Door - Jasper Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Bricks - Austral Latte Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ All of them together looks like this.. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The bit that hasnt been sitting well with me is the Gutters/Fascia being paperbark when the roof is Caper and the Downpipes being Jasper... I am thinking the gutter and fascia should really be jasper as well so we arent doing too many colours.. We also get three different render colours as well which blend in very well with the roof and bricks... What is your opnions on having the gutter a different colour to the downpipes???? Thanks. Mel Re: Colour Selections - Getting confused!! Need peoples help 2Mar 03, 2012 4:57 pm I think the paperbark is fine, but maybe do the gutters jasper and just have the fascia paperbark. What colour are your windows? Actually, just looked again, what colour are your render colours are they in the bottom right corner? the lighter one looks more like Dune, would that be better? Oh honestly Im hopeless with this as well Re: Colour Selections - Getting confused!! Need peoples help 3Mar 03, 2012 5:05 pm Thats what I was thinking of... Gutters in Jasper and then the fascia in paperbark or the whole lot jasper... The render colours are in the bottom right conrer... We get render above the garage which is called Sandy Day (the sample up the top on the left), then the balcony is Braid (the darker sample) and then there is a feature render on the opposite side of the garage which is Prarie Dust.. Re: Colour Selections - Getting confused!! Need peoples help 4Mar 03, 2012 6:35 pm I like the idea of your gutters in Jasper too. I have just spent the last few weeks working out my colours. Try and get a soft copy of all the different colours plus the brick and put then in a word doc and try a few different combinations, even try colours you didn't first think of. I was going to have jasper gutters til I tried monument and have now gone with that. When I looked at all the different combinations together I could see what worked best. Need peoples help 6Mar 03, 2012 8:15 pm Thanks onewheel and d@n. I like the idea of putting them in a word document, i have the samples and a brick i will probably go down to the local roof tile supplier and get a tile and match it all up. d@n, yeah i agree, the downpipes should be the same colour as the gutters... Thanks for your help Re: Colour Selections - Getting confused!! Need peoples help 7Mar 04, 2012 8:04 pm I have just been on the Monier website having a look at the colours of roof tiles.. Has anyone used the Mocha Choc color? i am thinking this is the color for me as I am not sure about going for Caper with the Jasper and then the Latte bricks. Re: Colour Selections - Getting confused!! Need peoples help 8Mar 04, 2012 8:06 pm d@n If you're having jasper downpipes, then it makes more sense to do the same with the gutters. d@n...I have just registered my interest for a front elevation drawing of the house i am building with the colors i am think of with the company in your signature. Hopefully this will help me. Re: Colour Selections - Getting confused!! Need peoples help 9Mar 04, 2012 8:23 pm Hi, I am going with MochaChoc roof tiles with jasper gutter/facia/downpipes. I saw it in a display home and the colours worked very well together - the mochachoc is a really nice brown in real life. I think that they will go well with your brick - mine is a little darker than yours but yours will still work really well. I am having a a dune garage door also. What colour windows are you going with? Melissa Colour Selections - Getting confused!! Need peoples help 10Mar 04, 2012 9:22 pm Hiya fellow mocha choc lover hahahahahhahaha.. The windows will be the jasper as well.. I love the jasper color... So tired of seeing black roof with black windows every house in a street. Re: Colour Selections - Getting confused!! Need peoples help 11Mar 04, 2012 10:02 pm Since everything is in browny tones I wanted to change it up a little with the windows - I am going to go with surfmist. I wanted a colour that was whiteish but wasn't that really stark white of straight white (pearl ..... something). This is a grey/white colour. I wasn't going with the jasper windows as they are dearer (not in the standard range) and the line has to be drawn somewhere -I'm paying to upgrade the bricks, can't justify the windows too, not when there is already a good option in the basic range. Hope you start to feel more confident with colour choice if you change - its such a big decision, you want to be right but can't really tell until everything get built together. Need peoples help 15Mar 06, 2012 10:29 am Looks great, only other option I could suggest is lighter garage and front door colour Re: Colour Selections - Getting confused!! Need peoples help 16Mar 06, 2012 10:42 am Wow ... that was a big change in a few days .... thought I'd share our colours which were close to what you started with, might help to convince you that you now have the right colours ... We have Jasper colorbond roof, Merino (Paperbark) gutters, fascia, downpipes, garage door, windows with Austral Latte bricks and wooden door and window frames at the front of the house... Mel Wow, havnt heard of a building company charging extra just for a different color in windows.. who is that with?? Carlisle homes seem prtty good up until now.. I am more confident with the colors that d@n was able to send me a drawing of.. because we got to choose three different render colors, i wanted to limit the number of different colors with the roof/gutters/fascia to bricks etc... Re: Colour Selections - Getting confused!! Need peoples help 19Mar 06, 2012 4:21 pm I'm building with Eden Brae but I believe that a number of the builders have some windows that are dearer to get. I know that with the company's Airlite and Stegbar they have some windows that are dearer - including the colour jasper (to match the colorbond colour). Mel Re: Colour Selections - Getting confused!! Need peoples help 20Mar 06, 2012 7:05 pm wow... jee... another reason why i love Carlisle Homes hehehehehe.. we even get three different render colours to choose from (any dulux colour) free and we get so many standards because we are building a home in their afinity range.. How much are you ahead in payments compared to where the build is at? Have you fully drawn down the loan? 5 11933 If this is a custom build then I would expect the builder to set out the door frame closer to the wall to avoid the gap between architrave and the wall and or specify… 9 8324 |
