Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 01, 2012 8:33 pm The builders next door to our vacant block have decided our block is a good drop off point for all there loads of gravel, Rubbish pit, Sand and other various items, Last week we called there builder to ask why there was 3 truck loads of gravel on our block and the excuse was "Oh the truck driver would of mistaken it for wrong block" but i guess they are just being lazy as it is easier to dump on ours rather then back there truck onto there own block now after they have moved it there is so much gravel left on ours to mow over which is great, Its not like they are small blocks being half an acre there is so much room. Just wondering what are our rights to this, Has anyone else had this problem and what did you do, Just wondering what we can do about it cause the builder will just keep being difficult and i shouldnt have to worry about this crap Re: Builders next door, What are my rights 3Mar 02, 2012 1:56 pm Put up a fence. Either pay for one of those temporary fencing companies, or even go small scale with some pigtails and white tape. Unfortunately for this to occur they need to be "caught in the act" so to speak. Like Cookie_Monster suggested a temporary fence might be the only option to save you more dumping and frustration Re: Builders next door, What are my rights 5Mar 02, 2012 5:45 pm I agree that they should have asked your permission before using your block. If you are just sitting on it with the intention to re sell than apparence is important and you need to ensure they don't make a huge mess or cut it up with trucks and utes. But if your intention is to build on it and you plan to do so in the near future, I personally cant see what the issue is. Just make sure they don't leave any concrete or crap behind. Don't waste your money on tempory fences, and don't waste energy on what is really a minor thing. Ok some may not be as easy going about these things as I am, but I like to put things in perspective. At the end of the day what is the worst thing that can happen by them using your block? Cheers The only thing to add to these comments is that where possible it's always good to try and work with people than just say "no" because you can.
