Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 29, 2012 5:57 am We had in our contract for excess fill to be removed and also had excess spoil to be removed from site written on our plans. However they got a massive dump of bricky sand near the end of our bricking and what was left over the have spread on site ESP at the back where there was space. In sections it is up to 5-6cm deep and we don't want it as we wil need to remove it to re level the land. Thay are saying its fine. I'm sure I'm well within my rights to get it removed but they are saying they just leave a level surface and it's up to us with landscaping. The problem is its not level and has left us with a sloped back yard! Re: Excess fill - how to push for removal 2Feb 29, 2012 8:05 am That's builder's logic for you.. it does depend though on what your landscaping plans are. If you already have plans and the sand will interfere with those then tell the builder so he realizes that you really do need it removed. If you are going to build that area up anyway then the sand may be useful, especially if you have clay soil and can use the sand to break it up. Our plans did require the ground to stay flat and not to be built up. Also we have great soil for landscaping with no clay PM me your email. I have a build excavation calculator you can use based on your plans to double check what your builder is telling you.
