If you are not on a corner block then you will be up for half of that install cost ($2k-$2.5k) and your neighbours will contribute the other half for the part o the fence you share with them, so the credit the builder has given you is pretty much spot on. To be honest quality does tend to vary between installers a bit - the best bet is to look around in your estates and the surrounding estates for a nice recently-erected fence and then politely enquire with either the developer of that estate at their sales office or perhaps even the home owner (the developer should be able to tell you who does most of the fencing in the estate though) as to who did the fencing. Some people apparently have nothing better to do than comment on other people's sigs.
