I've been waiting for nearly two weeks since then, still no replay, I wonder why could this happen(what might be the cause), and does entire estate mean just my land or the block? What can I do apart from waiting?
Thanks!
Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 25, 2012 7:47 pm I bought a land+house package at Point Cook, the slab is finished and next stage would be framing, but my builder sent me an email saying: Quote: I have found out the reason that we have not been able to start the frame is because there is no power connected to the entire estate. This being the case a framer could not use his tools to erect the frame. Our director has been in discussions with the developer (Peet) and they have informed us that power should be connected to the estate in the next coming days. I have spoken with your supervisor and he has advised that he does have a framer on standby to commence as soon as the power situation is sorted. As for the cause - well it could be that there is either some missing or some faulty power infrastructure between your estate and the nearby existing power grid. It might also be a process-related issue with bringing your estate's power grid online. This is something the developer and your local power company will have to sort out - you could enquire with the builder again to see what's happening. Some people apparently have nothing better to do than comment on other people's sigs. Re: Slab finished, but "no power connected" to start framing 4Feb 25, 2012 9:12 pm If it has dragged on this long I'm surprised the builder hasn't hired a generator so the frame can get completed and they can get moving Re: Slab finished, but "no power connected" to start framing 6Feb 25, 2012 9:47 pm I had the same issue when building the first time. In the end we agreed to pay for the hire of a generator for two weeks until the power was connected. Speak with your builder and ask them about hiring a generator. Yes I would like to talk with them, but I'm worried if I ask they will be angry which has some bad consequence. buildingwest I had the same issue when building the first time. Ramset tool for pinning frames, pasolde for framing and little genny running the coil nailer for the triple grips etc. Builders quickly forget that simple things like handsaws can be just as quick for trimmers and such. Re: Slab finished, but "no power connected" to start framing 9Feb 27, 2012 7:51 am Hi Hao, I agree with the comments made earlier, the builder should have found a solution to this problem. BUT, is it just a power issue or is the builder leaving the slab to "cure" before starting the frame? I'm sure this builder has come across this problem before, so talk to them & don't be afraid that they'll get angry, after all, it's YOUR house & YOUR mortgage repayments not his. If he stalls for a few weeks , it's no probs for him cos he's got your deposit. So I agree with other posters, I'd have a friendly discussion with him & it also wouldn't hurt to call the power co & see if what you're being told is true or not, that way, you'll get your info straight from the horse's mouth Re: Slab finished, but "no power connected" to start framing 10Feb 28, 2012 7:36 pm springtime Hi Hao, I agree with the comments made earlier, the builder should have found a solution to this problem.
