Re: 3 phase power shock 2Feb 21, 2012 12:14 pm Not sure on the restrictions of wind turbines in your area but you could consider something like this: http://www.instructables.com/id/DIY-100 ... ine/#step1 http://camdenbuild.blogspot.com.au/ by invite only please pm me Re: 3 phase power shock 3Feb 21, 2012 1:06 pm robbie55 Not sure on the restrictions of wind turbines in your area but you could consider something like this: http://www.instructables.com/id/DIY-100 ... ine/#step1 Don't think your comparing apples for apples there robbie55! 3 phase power at prob 80amps per phase - aganist a 1000w diy job??? Re: 3 phase power shock 4Feb 21, 2012 2:16 pm Perhaps the time has come for you to re-evaluate whether or not you actually need 3 phase power or want 3 phase power... Suburbia is where the developer bulldozes out the trees, then names the streets after them. Re: 3 phase power shock 5Feb 21, 2012 2:22 pm @ xanthorpe - oh we dont need to re-evaluate. we aint doing it. it was not something we NEEDED per se, but looked at seeing if we might install it now. I was thinking if it was about $8-9000, we would be willing to pay that, but not $15k. that is money that can be spent elsewhere. Re: 3 phase power shock 6Feb 21, 2012 4:05 pm It all depends on what air conditioning and power usage needs you might have - if you have a larger house then effective refrigerated air con may dictate the need for 3-phase power. The same issue arises for any other high power draw devices or equipment you might have, but an AC unit is probably the most common culprit in homes... Some people apparently have nothing better to do than comment on other people's sigs. Re: 3 phase power shock 8Feb 21, 2012 4:25 pm toughen, it may be cheaper for you for the 3 phase. but we are in semi rural area and the 'transformer box' that they will bring the 3 phase from is about 200m down the road.. but with you on the pool idea. so miss our pool from our old place and we want to put one in when we build too. which was exactly what we said when we saw the $$$$$. Re: 3 phase power shock 9Feb 21, 2012 4:48 pm Costs for our 3-phase changes were $780 for running in 3-phase power to the meter box, $360 for extra circuit breakers (you need one for each line) and $1150 for the 3 phase switchboard, so all up expect maybe $2.5k for a standard install (our meter box is set back about 6-7m from the street and we have underground power). p.s. that was through the builder - no idea what an independent sparky would charge but it's generally not something your builder will let an independent sparky put in during the build process... To bring from the CRT over the road and upgrade the pit. Unfortunately had already installed the upgrades to meter box etc and cost us $1500. Had to requote air con and then needed 2! Just goes to show because others in the neighborhood have it, doesn't mean its a given! Live and learn.... 1 62023 Would also like an opinion from anyone that has used xcem over hebel for floors.
