Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 16, 2012 6:10 pm I have been in my new home for over a year and the 3 month maintenance issues are ongoing as the builder keeps cutting corners and not doing a proper job. We seem to have reached agreement on most things other than scratched mosaic tiles. They have been 3 times and have failed to replace all the tiles scratched despite agreeing to do this. Last time I was asked to mark the tile which I did and still the tiler failed to replace them!!! I am now left with perm ante marker which I can't clean from the scratches. They state that an Australian standard says the scratches must be clearly visible from at least 1 meter away - which some are but not others. These were expensive glass mosaic tiles and were installed scratched. Any advice? - I will be going to the Consumer and Business Services on Monday and have also got hold of the Building Commission guide to Standards and Tolerances which does not mention viewing distances but the simple fact that scratches are defects. I live in Adelaide (Mount Barker ) Any other avenues? The house is 99% good now but some of the work was poor and the repairs have been shocking (wrong colour grout used, wrong paint type used on repairs, 3 visits for solar hot water to be installed to installation standards etc, leaking window, gaps in french door, holes in mortar in brickwork - and this is only half of it!!!) and now after a year the builders are complaining!!!!! I am looking at building a house. Has anyone used Construkt Homes (based in Adelaide)? Does anyone have experience with this builder? 0 6450 12 5320 Industry type domestic contracts are prepared by industry bodies for the benefit of the builders.
