Things have been progressing well, if slightly out of order. The floor tiler didn't show until yesterday due to a death in the family but he works well into the night to catch up; the plumbing fitoff happened today instead of tomorrow which went against my plans to have the plumbers connect the tank which didn't turn up until late this arvo; the split system was meant to go in tomorrow but will now happen when the sparky puts the appliances in next week; BUT HANDOVER IS STILL NEXT THURSDAY OR FRIDAY!

I wasn't originally going to get a tank (off the shed for garden purposes only) until much later but I wanted to take advantage of the plumber being on site to connect it. Yes, I know, it's easy to do myself but I really couldn't be bothered digging a ditch. He had to do some remedial and finishing off work in the yard where the stormwater and sewer pipes connect to the main pipes in the easement anyway so he may as well connect the tank as well. DW, DS and I constructed a base for the tank on the weekend consisting of staked and propped up leftover wardrobe architrave, filled and levelled with bricks and sand. The tank is 2250l (500 gal) and I will get a pump for it in due course, after I get the shed powered up. Yes, of course I got the tank colour co-ordinated Michelle!

One of the things that has bugged me since the downpipes were installed was the stormwater piping at the outdoor room extending well outside the brick column. This had to happen because the concrete footings around the columns prevented the pipe from going straight down. The hassle to me was that the plastic pipe was going to be in danger of being potentially damaged from passing traffic where space is at a premium. I made a guard from heavy duty metal covering mounted on a unistrut frame and dynabolted to the footing. The top surface of the cover should eventually be underground just enough to grow grass over it.

A good representation of our interior colours, even though this is in the garage. Skirting boards as previously mentioned are 'Quarry', the walls are 'Ice Cap', and the ceiling believe it or not is 'M3tricon White'! The notch at the front of the garage will be handy for our soon-to-be-spare fridge, our upright freezer, and possibly our clothes dryer.

Plumbing was fitted off inside the house today, he still has to come back for the hot water booster and the tank connection. Here is our ensuite and the main toilet. We didn't upgrade to the ceramic toilet cisterns because they would have cost a small fortune and weren't as efficient anyway.

The electrician began turning our ceiling into swiss cheese last week and it now looks like an upside down bowl of spaghetti. Well, sort of.

Make sure your site clean up guy doesn't damage that pipework! They tend to be pretty rough in regards to the final scrape...

The problem arose because the footings were poured in expectation of a whopping huge waffle pod slab in the alfresco area. It never happened so the footings ended up being a waste of time, the legacy is a pipe that sticks out like you know what.

The shed only; it is a fairly small tank intended for watering the gardens and washing the cars only.

Yes, you're right, and only you and the others who have actually completed their homes know how exponentially busy things get at the 'pointy end'.

I'll try and put some photos up on the weekend but I don't think I'll be spending a lot of time around here for a while.

So much to do!

Significant progress this past week. The inside of the house looks a bit different now that the lights are on; everything is still dirty of course but now the tiles look a bit brownish through the camera. It was a heavily overcast day when I took this series of interior pics and everything looked a bit strange as a result but I think we'll have plenty of light.

Here is our relocated and extended pantry, I'm not thrilled about the vertical strip of wood getting in the way of the shelves but it has to be there to support the shelves it seems. A more substantial set of shelves would have been better. Still, it's a very large pantry compared to the one in our old house. Twice as big in fact.

Built-in robe, this is the smallest of them, in the spare bedroom. The space to the right of it forms the back of the pantry. All the BIR's have hanging space in one half and shelves in the other. We were happy to stick with the sliding doors and even happier not to pick mirror doors; they would need eternal cleaning.

Outdoors now. Two days ago the excavation was made for the driveway and crossover, and the back yard was levelled. Then it rained. We now have glue, but it is quickly drying out.

Our deck is now under construction as well; we managed to get hold of someone to build it a fairly short notice, at a competitive price, thanks to a suggestion from our original M3tricon sales rep. Thanks, R.

HANDOVER IS STILL SET FOR THURSDAY 28TH AUGUST but maybe the next day if needed. A possible holdup will be the bloke who puts the caulking in the gaps of the brickwork. The inspector won't sign off the house until it is done but the caulker has been held up due to the wet weather (it rained here every day for 11 days in a row). The only other component that is a bit behind is the glass splashback; this wasn't measured up until the caesarstone bench tops went in, which were late themselves, hopefully the splashback will arrive in time.

Eager the Seattle Sky looks fantastic doesn't it? I love it! I can't understand why more people don't use it.

We are the only ones with good taste. :wink:

We're having the Jet Black in the kitchen but the Seattle Sky in the powder room and laundry!
I tossed up using it in our kitchen but it didn't go with our other selections.
It goes perfectly with your tiles! In fact all your selections look really wonderful! Compliments to you and DW! I'm a bit biased though because I love grey based selections.

Not grey!

The colour is Pacific Island, which is a blu/green - aqua type of colour. From memory we didn't have a wide range to choose from, but at 501 it looked o.k. lined up against our other selections. The actual colour is a bit different to what you see in this pic, just as the Seattle Sky is different too.

OK all, photos is what you want; photos is what you get!

Still no splashback, but carpet, a driveway, half a deck, an air con, some cleaning, caulking of expansion joints in the brickwork, and a series of blue dots! Appliances go in tomorrow and handover is still Thursday (now unlikely) or Friday.

The carpet is Morrison Quay 'Bastile.' In real life it is greyish, but has a definite chocolate tinge.

The coloured driveway was included in the contract. A standard allowance was made (36 m2) and any extra was up to us. The camera angle on the second pic is a bit deceptive.

Geoff it looks great!!!

Love the driveway!!! Great side access for boys toys etc!!! Will that area be fenced or gated off eventually?

The deck looks lovely too, its going to be a great entertaining area out there. Its amazing how much difference the carpet makes too, it just brings up your colours so well.

Love the tiles and cabinetry in the laundry too, are the tiles on a matting backing or are they a solid large tile? Very different look and nice!!!
