Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our M3tric0n story 221Jul 12, 2009 12:21 pm We've now been in for 10 months and things are still happening! Our maintenance inspection has long been and gone, but we've had a few things replaced/refitted since. To the credit of our builder (and especially our customer service lady) nothing seems to be out of the question if we have a concern or query. The latest example was with the island bench pendant lights. The ones we chose ended up being a bit **. They consisted of an outer part secured to an inner part with screws that screwed into the back of other screws, and those screws were then screwed into the lampholder to secure the inner cylinder. They blew globes often, they were only 40w globes and the fitting was rated for 60w so they should have been able to handle the heat, and the first time I changed a globe the glass part came out but the metal bit was stuck in the lampholder. I had to mangle the lampholder a bit to get the metal part of the globe out, and after I put the new globe in and put the whole lot together again, one of the threads for the screws in the lampholder stripped and another was feeling a bit loose. Since then the fitting was barely hanging together. So, we were offered replacements. From a higher range!
