Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 15, 2012 6:16 pm Hi All, I am wondering about the direct relationship between slab cost and soil type. I have a builder who stated they include the slab cost in the price as standard for up to type H soil type. Our soil type is S/M and the builder is now saying to allow $1500.00 for the extra cost of the slab. The soil test came back as requiring footing piers (not slab piers) of 350 @ 2500 centres and is firm natural ground with 1 degrees slope. This all seems like good land to me that should not cost anymore for a slab than type M let alone type H. Could there be any reason in what I have provided as to why we are to allow an extra $1500.00 for the slab? Thanks.
