First time user to a forum and was not aware of what you pointed out. Glad you took the time to post this. Ive learnt something just a very angry person at the moment and i suppose anger affects your judgement anyways thanks
No worries. I also read this article:
http://www.smh.com.au/business/how-the- ... 1ue6z.html
just recently, and frankly I reckon the law needs to be changed. Anyway, I digress, this discussion is a little off topic.
I hope you get your tiles sorted out. I am certainly a little wiser after reading this thread.
Hi there - I stumbled across this thread as I too am having porcelein tiles and found this information useful (and scary). But then I came across daveinthehills post. Defamation laws certainly apply to online forums and social media websites, and even anonymous bloggers have been sued (eg. Google has been forced by courts to reveal identities of anonymous bloggers, in this same way that H1 could be forced by subpoena). But one thing I did want to point out (and not frighten people) is that a few years ago the laws did change against companies suing for defamation. That is, a company that has more than 10 employees can no longer sue for defamation. The executives can (if some posts about an individual) but not the company. This is because companies were abusing defamation law to gag public outcry / comment.
I don't want to go on about this but I think the forum is a powerful place for the consumer to share information. Definitely definitely need to avoid posts that taint the reputation of an individual, but people shouldn't be scared to write about big companies (provided it is factually true and their own opinion). Rant over.
Back to tiles....
