Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 9322Jan 25, 2014 5:23 pm HeathWilD ellenandmatt Hello everyone, Its been a long time since I have been on here! I just wanted to know how quickly everyone else is going at the moment? We got our slab poured on the 9/1, Frames 16/1, Plumbing Rough in and roof prep 23/1 and bricks start Monday. Its been flying but I am wondering if anyone else experienced this at the start and then it all came to a halt? Looking at the other builds on here and near ours all of the big external stuff changes really quickly then the details start to take a long time... Our SS is expecting us to be in by the end of April depending on the brickies we get assigned... We are about a week behind you. We have been given the following start dates: · Fascia and Gutter installation – Wednesday 29th January · Site clean – Wednesday 29th January · Roof Railing installation – Thursday 30th January · Plumber Roughin – Thursday 30th January · Metal Roof installation – Friday 31st January (battens on Friday, sheeting + insulation on Monday 3rd/Tuesday 4th) · Brick Delivery – Wednesday 5th February · Sand Delivery and Hardware – Wednesday 5th February · Bricklayer start – Thursday 6th February (unconfirmed contractor at this stage) Oh fantastic news for you! Hopefully we will also be in by April, I can't wait any longer! Ill have to speak to our SS to get some estimated dates like you have too, that will help put my mind at ease! Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 9323Jan 25, 2014 5:52 pm I have been issued bricks invoice yesterday Friday the 24th January 2014 and this afternoon I visited house just to check if this was true but front and one side was half bricked, Any ideas guys if this was the case with all of you and should I ask the bank to release funds. Hi HeathWilD, it's up on completing the stage, I was thinking of sending them the pictures and ask please liaise with the SS for an update before sending me the invoice. I have it signed and thanks GOD didn't forward to the bank. Also contact your CS and let her know too, they can contact the accounts person as they only give you 7 days. I would have thought it would be something central to the room, between a couple of the wooden beams...but it was a little piece of wood attached parallel to one of the beams, not in the centre of the ceiling...so we had to put our own in afterwards anyway. You are building a single storey home so adding extra battens is easy especially if your adding the lights you need battens for after hand over. Just place hole in roof were light is going & then you know were batten has to go, your electrician will do this for you at allot less than 75+GST. I didn't have EB contractor add any extra lighting just standard light points they supply. In every room not one was centre of room & most fell out of roof with any pressure applied like when you want to change a light globe. Not one was attached to a batten all installed with gyprock expanding locksons which work but don't have much strength. Lucky I was installing led lighting so just filled all there ceiling holes, I couldn't use them anyway even if was using single light because I hate things not centred. If doing yourself use long self drilling wood screws, just insert them 45deg each side batten & they will be stronger than most of the roof which is just nailed together, well they try to nail it together when they don't miss. Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 9331Jan 29, 2014 7:05 am Our site portaloo was removed yesterday! YAY! However, after taking a sneak peak inside, i noticed our ensuite toilet was used, after looking in it I could see some interesting "stains" which I don't appreciate. Is this normal? Can the tradies use this when there is an EB House being built with a portaloo? Just not happy about it. Thanks Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 9332Jan 29, 2014 7:22 am Ewwww, not good... I think they can and do use the toilet inside the house... Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 9333Jan 29, 2014 9:36 am Hello, Just a quick update as I have not been on here in ages. We are now up to the painting stage, so getting closer to the end. We have chosen the colour 'frosted ice' so we are looking forward to seeing it and hope it looks OK. Our bathroom and ensuite are all tiled and kitchen is in, so after painting we have shower screens, electrician finishing off, air con and water tank installation, flyscreens, mirrors, door hardware, driveway (not necessarily in that order-I have no idea which order!!!) and then floor tiles and carpet I think. Hopefully in soon... Cheers, Alison Building Sheffield 25 in the Hunter Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 9334Jan 29, 2014 12:02 pm Congrats Alison! Glad to hear it's about to wind up for you guys. firsttimers2013, we had that same problem too. I put it up as one of the top reasons to not trespass on site lol...nicer to be naive about these things! We had a pile of tissues on our bathroom windowsill and a hair left on the toilet seat. Nice! I wouldn't have been as bothered by them using it if they hadn't left behind marks and traces of their DNA. It was like they tainted our perfect, new unused toilet. It sounds ridiculous, but it's such a nice feeling when everything else has never been used before...except the toilet. We had another EBH across the road from us with a portaloo. They could have used that. But, if I was in their position I would opt for a porcelain toilet as well. That is, if I was ok with peeing next to a transparent floor-to-ceiling window. I didn't really mind as long as they flushed the loo! But my trades weren't considerate enough to do that...You can imagine how I felt when I went in for an inspection and saw what was left behind....gross! Really thought when my kids returned to school we would have had a PCI date, but have got no idea. Our SS told me back in November painters should be finished by Christmas and I remember questioning him about that and he was adamant that they would be finished by then. Well the painters are still there, probably another week to go. The weather is so beautiful at the moment, I can just see it turning and starting to rain just when they are about to start the driveway. Just need a little more patience!!!! Seems we are all up to the same level - our painter is back onsite after a week off - still going on inside looks like just the final coat, but then as the outside to do - we have been given an indication of 21st Feb for a finish date but there are so many items to be done it will be interesting. I feel the same our driveway is to happen somewhere near 10th Feb - I worry the rain will come and put that back. And our rangehood is still "missing in action" SS has been chasing it and it was delivered by the supplier 17th Dec but they didn't install it and now they are saying they need another 5 days!!!! I believe they have been issued a non conformance notice by EB. My theory is that they used it on another job then could not get a replacement during the warehouse shutdown period. I believe the electrical fit out and air cond vents are due tomorrow or Friday. Also the concretor is to start on repairing the slab issues tomorrow.
