Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 13864Sep 30, 2016 5:19 pm Kpatto1 Hi all, has anyone done their tiling post hand over? Was it a hassle? We're weighing up our options atm and just feel di Lorenzo is too overpriced for what we want. We're hoping for porcelain tiles but Di Lorenzo want to charge extra $5k+ :/ thanks. A friend got it done post handover and says it's not worth the hassle. We prefer to do it with the builder. Cost is a big factor though. Porcelain comes with a big price tag. Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 13865Sep 30, 2016 5:27 pm wongbruce Miffy dyansky Miffy if you pick from the standard tile range, you don't have to pay for laying charges. From what I remember, only ceramic tiles are standard for EB. Hope this helps. Mike dishwasher power socket is included in our standard electrical plan. It's weird that you were charged $250. Thought this was standard. Thanks dyansky !! I really like the standard range for wet areas. We want to see their timber range for first floor. Lots of allergy and asthma issues in our house. Can't go with carpet on first floor. anyone selected timber floors here? What was the cost like? In addition......... For the standard tile range they are a 450 x 450 tiles, the porcelain tiles are 600 x 600 in size. As for us, we will be going for the porcelain tiles for the internal lower ground excluding the laundry, however external areas we will be using the standard tile range. Would love to see your tiles Bruce !!! We are heading same way. I just do not like that there is not much information from the company on various selections they offer. Taking so many costly decisions in span of few hours is daunting. Who else is building with Eden Brae? 13866Sep 30, 2016 6:26 pm EBH has done my frame, bricks and roof tiles in under 3 weeks which I think is extremely quick. Question. Is how long is it really going to take them to fit out internals of house can't be 5 months can it. My house is Livingstone 23 and covers 229sqm or so I have yet to meet my site supervisor or chat over the phone is this normal? I have I believe receive 2 emails telling me they laying slab and other they doing roof tiles that's it. Who else is building with Eden Brae? 13867Sep 30, 2016 7:51 pm yevi_chen With regard to bricks, I'd recommend ensuring the brick is rated for your soil conditions...I was going to use gravel at my place, however because it was (at that time) not rated for reactive soils, I chose a brick that was rated for reactive soils. Check with the brick manufacturer The house built right next door to mine used gravel bricks, & they are already showing salinity damage 'tide marks', whereas my place there is no such damage to the bricks. All the best with it Hi Pixigt25, do you know where we can find out our soil condition? we are building at austral eadenwoods and still on construction civil works. Anyway, what bricks do you end up? thank you so much for your reply Hi yevi_chen, EBH should have it or if you've received any site reports from surveys you've had done (if you are not purchasing a house & land package) it will be there. I went with mocha bricks (which may not be available any longer in NSW, not sure). I've posted various posts in the past on this and the Building at Willowdale thread with a fair amount of information that may be helpful. I have I believe receive 2 emails telling me they laying slab and other they doing roof tiles that's it. Don't necessarily want to be sarcastic (we should enter construction stage in about 3 weeks time), but when I check our payment schedule, about 2/3 of the full cost has to be paid by end of bricklaying stage...So it's in their best interest to get that over and done with as soon as possible. Internals/completion is mostly 3rd parties to them (besides the lining) - di Lorenzo, electrical, aircon, kitchen, landscaping... only margin in it for EB. So I understand your point...It shouldn't take 5 months (they can do it in a couple of weeks on all those renovation shows), but there is no big incentive in it anymore.
