It's not my intention to spoil your excitement but there used to be more complaints from Hunter region clients. It's probably relatively new SSs are there compared to the sydney region. I hope you'll get a good SS. Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 104Apr 11, 2012 9:11 am I agree - I don't think any building company is perfect and SS seem to come and go. Hopefully Eden Brae are more established these days and will have better SS's. Going to colour choices on Thursday - ahhhh! Not even sure where to start - so many decisions to make in just one day. Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 105Apr 11, 2012 7:11 pm Good luck with the colour appointment entertainer. Just had our electrical appointment today, O.M.G our lighting bill came to $2500 just got downstairs!!! Thats the crap thing about having double storey, lucky our mate is going to do the upstairs for us. Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 106Apr 12, 2012 7:13 pm Colour appointment today - argghhh! Can't talk about colours anymore - off to get a nice big glass of wine. Hope everyone else is going along ok with their plans.. Who else is building with Eden Brae? 108Apr 13, 2012 5:59 am How did it go????? Isn't it exhausting! Our house building blog: http://shellgavshouse.blogspot.com/ Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 109Apr 13, 2012 9:01 am It is really exhausting - and I felt really rushed through the choices too. Upgrades are yet to be signed off on. We're getting them costed in the total then we'll strike them off as we go. Kitchen ended up being the most costly - extra bench space, cupboards etc but now thinking about leaving off the overhead cupboards and having someone put them in later. Still unsure about roof colours.... and bathroom colours too. Who else is building with Eden Brae? 110Apr 13, 2012 1:17 pm Do you have pics of your choices? Our house building blog: http://shellgavshouse.blogspot.com/ Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 111Apr 13, 2012 2:19 pm I'll put some up when I get home... Basically they're all neutral colours - greys, whites etc. Who else is building with Eden Brae? 112Apr 13, 2012 5:04 pm Nice! Look forward to seeing the pics Our house building blog: http://shellgavshouse.blogspot.com/ Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 113Apr 13, 2012 5:18 pm My colour appointment is on Monday. I already have everything picked (pretty much) so hopefully it will go very smoothly and will not cost too much Dearheart Who else is building with Eden Brae? 114Apr 14, 2012 5:31 am Good luck Dearheart!!! We drove past the house yesterday and the gutters and fascias have been delivered Our house building blog: http://shellgavshouse.blogspot.com/ Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 115Apr 14, 2012 7:45 am Guys - Post our appointment a couple weeks back, we made a couple more changes along the way...but finally settled now. Only electrical to go now, a there is 1 more change I have made. I wanted to ask you guys, what do you think about home networking setup? I know most things are wifi these days, but i guess im thinking in terms of the future....Will it be hard to get this done later? Being an IT guy its easy for me to setup but thinking of wall cavity etc on getting it done later.... The other option was to head onsite when the electricals are being done and go cable up...but worried EB may find out and snap it!!! _________________ Building with EBH - Saville 30 @ The Ponds Building Blog - http://rabsndee.blogspot.com 22/08 - Slab Done 07/09 - Frames 16/09 - Roof 02/10 - Bricks 26/10 - Lockup 17/01 - Settlement Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 116Apr 14, 2012 11:42 am We just got EBH to wire up with CAT6 I went outside once. The other option was to head onsite when the electricals are being done and go cable up...but worried EB may find out and snap it!!! I'd definitely recommend getting cat 6 ethernet runs to all TV points and your main office/computer position - the NBN will be coming eventually and it's better to have hard data connections for things such as TV's, PVR's and computers than going with wireless. By all means you can still use a wireless router that your cat 6 ethernet connections plug into for now (NBN will require a different setup but you will still be able to use your cable runs if they are done right) - save the wireless connection for portable devices (laptops and tablets/smartphones) and have everything else hard-wired so that you don't have as much of a problem with lower speeds, loss of signal strength and possibly even congestion. Installing "hard-wired" cat6 is not something you should be doing yourself later on even if you are an "IT Guy" unless you have your data cabler's licence - by law structural data cabling (ie. through the roof/walls and terminating at a wall plate) must be done by a licensed data cabling professional, so it's not something you can/should be trying to do on the sly while the electricals are being sorted out unless you have your license and even then the SS may very well reject the idea of you doing data cabling yourself as it's not on the plans and you wont be insured to do works on site. It's also a bit more of a pita to get data cabling done after the ceiling/walls are plastered, especially for part of the cable runs coming down the walls to terminate at a wall-plate (it's much easier to do while the frame is exposed) Some people apparently have nothing better to do than comment on other people's sigs. Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 120Apr 14, 2012 9:26 pm Ok. I'm probably about to sound like an idiot but what exactly is a cat 6 ethernet port and what is it used for? Is this something that I should be getting? My electrical appointment is on tuesday so if someone could give me some info. that would be great. Thanks Dearheart I built with EB back on 2009.
