Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 11121Jan 23, 2015 10:54 am Cheers shelaw. Yes, I'm pretty sure that promo is still on. Not sure of the price difference otherwise. My first thought that the colourbond looked a bit too much like Ye Olde corrugated iron, but now I'm starting to warm to it. I was wondering how you'd go hammering in a nail to hang a picture, with a steel frame, but I think I'm inclined to just go with stick-on hooks. Adam Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 11122Jan 23, 2015 11:16 am @Stephanie, congrats on your journey...I have my appointments next month and trying to get as much info as I could beforehand as the others have pointed out. I am visiting Dilorenzo on Saturday to get a fair idea of the standard tiling and carpet range. What is the size of the tiles used? Does it cost much to move to 600mmx600mm because that is ideal. I understand I should be getting the max underlay for the carpets. The EB costs on top of the quotes are crazy from what I hear. Hi Paul, We went to Di Lorenzo 2 weeks ago and there was a good range of floor tiles and good sizes. To upgrade to larger was quite expensive so we opted to remove and do ourselves. The colour options were grey and beige tones in the standard. The bathroom tile options are reasonable but the floor tiles offered are only 20mmx20mm, you can upgrade to larger and they charge you $24 per square metre extra to lay them. You only get one row of tiles around the bathroom we are going to ask for a cost to tile to the ceiling next week, I hope it isn't to ridiculous but I will keep you posted. Tips for your meetings is to question every cost as some are ridiculous but when you push them they do come down on some things. We have spent $25,000 on upgrades so far and still have our tile and electrical meeting next week. It's very easy to upgrade everything but we had to cut back to ensure we don't over capitalise. I am happy to share upgrade costs with you so let me know what you are looking to change and if I know the cost ill let you know. Stephanie Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 11123Jan 23, 2015 2:02 pm Hi Stephanie, WOW@25k and you still have the electrical and tiles to go? Now thats sort of got me worried. Hope that meant you upgraded everything in your first appointment lol. Thankyou for the tip, I will take it on board when we go into our appointments. The sizes of the standard tiles is ok with me, I guess its just the colour, as we are going for more off white. As for the upgrade, do you have a blog? or list of what you got? If its too much then Ill go though my paperwork to see what I am looking for. Thanks again Paul Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 11124Jan 23, 2015 2:37 pm With regards to choosing upgrades - do they tell you the prices of each one as you're considering them, or do you only find out when you're presented with the tender? Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 11125Jan 23, 2015 6:01 pm shellaw24 Adam_C Anyone have an opinion on steel frames v. timber, and colourbond roofing v. tiles? Is it just a matter of personal taste, or are there practical considerations? I think in the end it is personal taste, both have pros and cons which are discussed plenty in other relevant threads if you search. We have gone with steel frames and colourbond roof, there was a promo to get them for free/$1 with the anticon blanket (not sure if still the case). There is a longer warranty on a steel frame and we liked the look of the colourbond roof and went with a light colour to help with passive solar properties. The colourbond roof seems to be VERY popular in our area too (Hunter area). Hi, We have chosen the same as well Steel frame Colourbond roof, we got to choose with our promo and steel last longer than timber no termites too worry about with steel. We personally like the look of colourbond roof than roof tiles, hubby used to be a roof tiler and hated tiles harder to replace aged more but in the end it's all about your own personal taste. Yes we have also noticed more people are building with steel and colourbond in the hunter as well. I think we paid $800 to change to a different colour for stone benchtops. These were in different categories also and our top choice was going to be about 2.5 k to upgrade to. The one we ended up getting was in the second category. We didn't upgrade carpet so can't help there. We did upgrade the underlay for very little extra. Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 11128Jan 24, 2015 12:30 pm razbeer Hi Amazingk thanks for clearing this out do you happen to know what size benchtop EBH providing and whats the overhang I'm bit confused about it becausevthere are 2 different sizes in contract. Hi razbeer, That depends on the house you are building. From my knowledge, there should be 2 x Island Design, 800mm inc. 200mm overhang or 900mm inc. 300mm overhang. Best to check with your sales person which is included. Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 11129Jan 27, 2015 1:48 pm Hi Razbeer, We upgraded to Vino brick and it was $1800 for a 27 square home.. Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 11130Jan 27, 2015 2:44 pm Thankyou Stephanie, this is a big help! it gives a some rough idea of what we could expect. I went to Dilorenzo and was very busy with alot of people checking out the same tile range for the main areas, doesnt help that they got EB range at the back of the room with minimal space for everyone to see. So people were lining up to check the range. I stayed for a bit and definitely knew we had to go back again. I must say, its a fairly decent range for the wet areas. I am a little bit unsure in regards to the feature walls, they were telling me that we will get 'one line' for the feature. I assumed we were going to get that similar to the display home which was one whole side of the wall. lol Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 11131Jan 27, 2015 2:53 pm Your welcome.. We went there a few weeks ago but since taking the flooring out in common areas we will only need to choose bathrooms and carpet on Thursday. The only issue we had was the size of the tile for the bathroom floor but we will be upgrading that. So on Thursday ill have more info for you. Yeah they don't give you much in the way of a feature, I think we will just put the mosaic in the shower neiche.. I have a rough price of what the electrical will cost thanks to Shayne's blog.. If you want to read a blog that is thourough and really helpful, read this one.
