Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 13841Sep 27, 2016 3:43 pm Did anyone else have major issues with their house getting finished? Our build started 11 months ago and we had an inspection a week and a half ago where we raised a whole heap of issues and now our site supervisor has disappeared. We have sent three emails with no response and it appears that nothing has actually been happening with our house since the inspection except for the removal of the fence from our site despite being nowhere near completion. We even sent an email to management and haven't got a response. Since we are significantly over the contract end date it is becoming really concerning that nothing is happening. Does anyone know where to go from here? Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 13842Sep 27, 2016 3:47 pm Amanda986 Did anyone else have major issues with their house getting finished? Does anyone know where to go from here? Did they tell u why there such a delay? I heard it was 7 months for a two storey house and u are saying it took 11 months and its still not complete? Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 13843Sep 28, 2016 3:35 am Hi all, has anyone done their tiling post hand over? Was it a hassle? We're weighing up our options atm and just feel di Lorenzo is too overpriced for what we want. We're hoping for porcelain tiles but Di Lorenzo want to charge extra $5k+ :/ thanks. Just make sure you check with eden brae whether you will get credit for tiles if u dont go with dilorenzo... In our case we didnt get any credit.. Chose to get laminate instead of tile.. Ended up paying about 7G to dilorenzo.. Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 13845Sep 28, 2016 12:53 pm Kpatto1 Hi all, has anyone done their tiling post hand over? Was it a hassle? We went through same dilemma as Di Lorenzo was way too costly ( we wanted Porcelain too), but after working oust costings, if done post handover we could have saved may be 2k considering EBH gave very less credit back for already included Ceramic tiles option. At the end we are going ahead with Di Lorenzo for ground floor but first floor we will do after handover. ----------------- Eden Brae Cremorne Blog : http://newhouse.gores.com.au Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 13847Sep 28, 2016 8:33 pm yevi_chen Hi, Is anyone using PGH Gibson bricks? we confuse between Gravel or Gibson.. Any help will be appreciated.. thank you Hi yevi_chen, We will be building using Gibson brick and were also looking at Gravel vs Gibson. They look quite similar. What we did is contact pgh to ask for so.me finished builds in the area with those bricks, which they provided. Found a couple addresses that where nearby (even one Gibson and one Gravel 2 houses apart I same street) a d just drove past having a look. Suggest you do the same, but we preferred the Gibson look over Gravel. Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 13850Sep 29, 2016 1:28 pm hi belgianbuilder, thank you for your suggestions, will try to contact PGH and get the address list. We prefer Gibson too but still feel Gravel not that bad.. huff hard decision.. Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 13851Sep 29, 2016 4:16 pm With regard to bricks, I'd recommend ensuring the brick is rated for your soil conditions...I was going to use gravel at my place, however because it was (at that time) not rated for reactive soils, I chose a brick that was rated for reactive soils. Check with the brick manufacturer The house built right next door to mine used gravel bricks, & they are already showing salinity damage 'tide marks', whereas my place there is no such damage to the bricks. All the best with it Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 13852Sep 29, 2016 5:24 pm Hi All. We've just submitted the 88B and S149 certificates to EB and our plans are now awaiting DA checks. Just wanted to ask what other documents did you submit to EB after this? Did you request for a copy of the Certificate of Title from your lender/bank? Thanks, D Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 13853Sep 30, 2016 8:04 am Hi, Does HOG provide you with any info sheets, booklets before the appointment. It helps going there prepared with all information. Has anyone done upgrades in kitchen benchtop. I have read in forum about categories in ceaserstone upgrades. Any idea what colours are there in those categories and how much it cost. Anyone gone for 40mm instead of 20. Also waterfall edge, how much it cost? Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 13854Sep 30, 2016 8:14 am Hi Miffy, The only thing we got before our appointments was a list of 'popular upgrades' including the price of each. We visited the HOG centre (as well as diLorenzo) before our appointments to prepare ourselves. BelgianBuilder. My basic included 20m to kitchen and laminate to 2 bathroom and powder room... We got a call from the construction manager yesterday and apparently our 4th site supervisor no longer works there. I think the big reason for the delay is because we have been through so many site supervisors and they haven't done proper handovers. Still no response from management though. At least now we can tell all our friends that are going to be building in the next 12 months not to go with Eden Brae. According to the contract if they dont finish the construction by estimated weeks, eden brae needs to pay you about $500 per week or ur rent isnt it? Are u getting those? Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 13858Sep 30, 2016 9:14 am Does it tell you how long estimated construction time? I can't find it on my tender could you point me to section thanks. Yah it should be in ur contract i guess... My one was 32 weeks i guess.. And if they go over that they need to pay my rent or max $500 a week.. But they will add rainy days until the roof is up so you want to keep track of that.. Normally SS should email you when its raining in ur site... All the best with it Hi Pixigt25, do you know where we can find out our soil condition? we are building at austral eadenwoods and still on construction civil works. Anyway, what bricks do you end up? thank you so much for your reply I built with EB back on 2009.
