How long did it take from start to finish? How did you find dealing with Paul? Took about five and a half months... Paul is a very good site supervisor, you just need to try and stay on top of your build and just bring up any issues you find along the way. No build is perfect and people make mistakes. We had a few mistakes (including some poor workmanship), but Paul had no issues in fixing any of them. Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 444Aug 06, 2012 7:35 pm Thats good to know Oran.. we are also building in Harrington Park. Although ours wont start for a while.... our tender says 28 week and its a single story just for your information. We go into head office on Friday to sign our contract and pay the 5%. Just wondering did you have to pay for a surveyor to survey the two blocks either side of yours to determine setback? Built a Hawthorne 31 with EB nessjeffdreamhouse.blogspot.com.au Building an investment now with New Living homes... We are at nearly finished... Just landscaping and driveway to go! Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 445Aug 06, 2012 7:58 pm For a decent landscaper try Corey from Instyle Landsaping (0431 142 604 - Let him know Rabi from The Ponds referred you). For a driveway person, try David from Ferrel Concreting on 0415 221 001. Hope this helps. =] _________________ Building with EBH - Saville 30 @ The Ponds Building Blog - http://rabsndee.blogspot.com 22/08 - Slab Done 07/09 - Frames 16/09 - Roof 02/10 - Bricks 26/10 - Lockup 17/01 - Settlement Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 446Aug 06, 2012 8:00 pm btw for reference, my SS is Kane and Rania is my CSO _________________ Building with EBH - Saville 30 @ The Ponds Building Blog - http://rabsndee.blogspot.com 22/08 - Slab Done 07/09 - Frames 16/09 - Roof 02/10 - Bricks 26/10 - Lockup 17/01 - Settlement Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 448Aug 06, 2012 8:27 pm Does anyone know how many clients each CSA might have at the same time? Setback is determined by Council or Complying Development rules and vary depending on if you are building a single or double story (top level needs to generally be setback further than the lower level) Doing a survey of the neighbouring land won't tell you much if it is vacant..... I would be asking the question why it is required 2 Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 451Aug 06, 2012 8:51 pm Thanks dvestate - I think you are also building in Camden Council - their setback is 4m, block next to ours has built 5.5m, I think the house on the other side of them is about 4.5 - 5m setback... but EB said we need to have a survey done... as they will need to build our house with a 5.5m setback (the average as when we went in last time)... I would prefer maybe 4.5 - 5m setback. 2 blocks that will also be on their survey havent even been built yet... ironic isnt it? Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 452Aug 06, 2012 10:30 pm Hi all, Don't remember if I have posted in this thread (i think i have) but I have been reading. We are also building the foxley 30 with Eden Brae at Gregory Hills and have nothing but good things to say about them Our build started mid June, contract says we have 24 week build and we are speeding along. Had an onsite meeting with SS and he said we are ahead of schedule. We have bricks and roof completed, Tyrells inspection was to be done on Friday with gyprock by the end of the week. Love reading about all your upgrades and colour choices, we did ours in aug last year so I am a bit worried that my tastes have changed! Biggest worry I have at the moment is that our pot drawer is too big! It's 1m wide. I just took Kitchen Culture's drawing and now I worry. And Foxley 25+2 I live how you've changed the design of the Foxley! It's a completely different design now! The four of us are ready for the next big step in our lives! Looks like Christmas in your new home, eh? Don't worry about colours.....these are to last you a long time! As long as they aren't too way out, you'll be right. Have you got a link to show us what you picked? It's weird how they want you to do a survey. I thought survey was part of the contract... Also have they fixed it? Well from back when my parents built their house (Campbelltown Council), they were first in the street and when next door submitted their plans to council my parents had to approve them. Their setback was 6m and next doors plans had been submitted with 5m. My Dad put in an objection based on the fact at time of submission for his home he was told he had to be 6m, so every house in the street is now 6m setback... You should be able to build at the same setback as the smallest in the street, a precendent has been set by the council in approving it. Good luck, our setback at OP is 4.5m I was told this was the council standard and know our friends house in OP is also 4.5 back from council land. We have a shared footpath/cycleway on our side of the street so I think we will be about 8m from the kerb Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 457Aug 07, 2012 11:24 am The ongoing saga of the luxuriously large laundry..... I have now discovered that the cupboards that run down one side of the laundry are only 2040mm high which means there is lots of room for dust & lint to collect. I have asked for a quote for a bulkhead over it. I know the cost is going to be HUGE!! Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 460Aug 07, 2012 2:17 pm Also just checked out my house again, looks like bricks has stalled for a week or so. I wonder if there is a brickies strike. I built with EB back on 2009.
