We have been pretty lucky. Minimal issues and they are on top of it. I was pretty cranky last night though about the smoking thing!!!! Hope all goes well I drove past before and there is another car in our driveway so that's exciting! Not sure what they are doing though but still nice to see people there working, I was going ok with not wanting it done right now but now I know we are so much closer to handover, I want it finished now!!!! Our house building blog: http://shellgavshouse.blogspot.com/ Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 170Jun 26, 2012 9:13 am we put down a deposit to build with eden brae on the weekend. Hawthorne 21. the missus and i are really happy with the layout on our block, and the price on paper is hard to beat. hopefully that wont change much when we go to tender. it doesnt look like anyone on H1 is building at Bunya? i guess we'll become the resident experts soon enough. Who else is building with Eden Brae? 171Jun 26, 2012 7:13 pm Congratulations!!!!!! When is your tender? Our house building blog: http://shellgavshouse.blogspot.com/ Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 172Jun 27, 2012 9:57 am Hi guys, I'm a newbie here building the Foxley 30 with EBH. Your posts have been very informative - hope you guys can help me along the way. We're gonna have our color appointment next week, and I've got a couple of Qs: Anyone has any tips on which brick goes well with the Jasper colorbond roof? We like the crema & camello, but not sure if it matches well with jasper (they look ok to our eyes, but we're not color experts either). We might consider upgrading the brick if anyone has an input on a great combination that's already proven out there. Do tile sizes matter? Is it really necessary to upgrade to 600mm, or is it just personal preference? Will the house look that much better with 600mm tiles compared to the standard 450mm? Can anyone share photos of your kitchen & bathroom colors? Please PM me. Cheers Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 173Jun 27, 2012 11:42 am thanks sydbuild, date hasn't been set yet. we are in no rush, just got home loan approved today and need to settle on the land. hopefully tender in a couple of weeks. hi tharina, we are looking at doing the floors ourselves after the build, i personally don't like tiled floors except for the 'wet' areas (bathroom, laundry, kitchen maybe). looking at timber or bamboo - depending on budget. i think tile size is personal preference - i've been told costs more to lay larger tiles hence the price increase. although larger tiles should mean less to lay, so not sure why it costs more? maybe because they need to cut more... Cheers I can add little bit about the 600mm tiles, we had our tiles appointment 2 weeks back adn we got our quote this week. 25K for 600mm tile of 165 square meter area which is ridiculous. Now stick with the standard which is 450mm not bad at all without adding penny. Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 175Jun 27, 2012 11:44 pm Need to be very careful about the paperwork (drawings, PCV etc) for eb, there are always mistakes or missing piece of information. In our case, a typo in the drawings which is not noticed by anyone even eb that cost us extra $7k... A really silly mistake made by the architecture guy, we r really frustated but can only accept it. As normal, they won't admit that was their fault and no crendit for us Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 177Jun 28, 2012 10:58 am 25K does sound like a lot. we were told around $100/m2 to upgrade to nicer tiles. did they give you a reason as to why it would cost so much? mapple - can you elaborate as to the typo in the drawings? what was it that cost you 7K? i would have thought the architect would be liable since you are paying them for their service! Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 178Jun 28, 2012 4:19 pm yes 25K sounds lot. They said to lay the polished porcelain there is standard rate 37$ per square meter and on the top tiles were 100$ per sqm and I have around 170 sqm ground floor area. Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 179Jun 28, 2012 9:24 pm Can confirm extra laying charge for the larger tiles, we stuck with the standard size. The extra cost they told me was due to having to put a underlay down because larger tiles arnt as forgiving if the floor is unlevel. Building the Lawson with Eden Brae in Cameron Park Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 180Jun 29, 2012 12:23 am Someone made a mistake on the driveway, 3000 width became 5000 and cause calculation error for the driveway gradient. They modified the site plan without telling us until we found it in the landscape plan. They ends up cut more and fill less for our block. The dropped edge beams have changed their positions as well and obviously shorter than the first presented plan. Step down garage cost additional cost.... No credit for DEB which has been charged arnd 8k How could someone change your plan without telling and explaining it to you?? We have already signed the contract and doesnt even notice the drawings has changed... I built with EB back on 2009.
