Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 12161May 29, 2015 12:35 pm Hi Venniechadha, Although I didnt go ahead with Abbey Blinds and got mine done post handover, I realised Abbey Blinds were really keen to get the business, and kept on offering 5-10% discount from what was originally quoted by them during the appointment. Also a mate got them to price-match another quote, however you need to be reasonable with that. With the landscaping as well, you can get it done post-handover as well as it'll definitely be cheaper. All comes down to convenience vs cost. Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 12162May 29, 2015 1:00 pm venniechada Hi guys, I have an appointment next week at home option gallery The following are the things i need help on 1. Has anybody used abbey shutters - is it best to use them or can we say no and do our blinds and curtains later. I mean buy from online shops , such as i seek blinds and then fit them later. what is the cost of putting a plantation shutters with abbey shutters - i was given $239 dollars per sqm with i seek blinds. 2. The second thing i am not sure about is landscaping - i only need the landscaping plan to send it to builder for approval, I want to do the landscaping later on rather than spending ( 10 t0 12K at this stage) as anybody only went with the plan and said no to the landscaping at home option gallery. Hi venniechada We didn't go with abbey blinds for two reasons 1. They were a lot more expensive than a quote we'd received from another company. The external quote was $10k for sliding screen doors (normal fly screen's and alugard), plantations at the front of the house and block out blinds elsewhere and fly screens on the back windows. That quote also included the alugard sliding screens for the stacker door. Abbey was just over 9k and didn't include everything we wanted (ie they only had unlockable fly screen sliders, and see below) 2. I didn't like the quality of abbey blinds. The external quote we received included good quality block out plantation shutters. What was frustrating with Abbeys plantation shutters range was they had the crap cheap ones (which we were advised weren't water resistant - so if any moisture touched them , which is possible in a window they could bow). They had another type but we were told they were a heavier type - there was more negativity to those that I can't recall right now. Anyway of course they sold up the most expensive but it still wasn't block out. We will just get our blinds installed after handover. I just felt thru abbey it was too complicated. Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 12163May 29, 2015 2:24 pm thanks guys, I have already planned not to do landscaping at this stage. I will only get the plan . Also i am trying to get the online price for the shutters and blinds. My presenter has told me that for the plans , whoose kitchen is facing the outer wall , they will be going for the ducted option , instead of cycled option. did anybody opted for this ? Did EBH quoted any price for the ducted option ( range hood provision)? vk Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 12164May 29, 2015 3:51 pm Mine is ducted, however the price was included in the H&L package I believe. So no additional costs were added. Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 12166May 29, 2015 11:09 pm Hi guys, I hope someone can help me out, I am about to sign a contract with Eden brae next week, I am building in Edmondson park - Landcom stage 4. I have been going back and forth regarding removal of the water tank as our estate will have recycled water connection. Eden brae adamant for me to 'provide land evidence of recycled water to lot for possible rain water tank credit of $2700 in writing'. I have checked with the guy from Landcom and he asked for Eden brae to contact landcom directly, but Eden brae need to see this on the contract of sales or some sort. (it is not written anywhere on the contract of sale - section 88b), Our land will be registered in July/Aug this year. Anyone has removed their water tank and get credit for it? any tips? Thanks guys. Hi benzz3, what a dilemma - maybe contacting Sydney Water (or whomsoever is the administrator of the recycled water system) can provide you with confirmation that recycled water will be used, & maybe your conveyancer can prepare it in such a way that it is acceptable to EBH..? Not too sure, but IMHO I would start with the provider/administrator of the recycled water system & quiz them a bit to see how to work it. I was originally thinking of getting two or three inspections, but now it feels like an overkill. I'll probably go your way. I would highly recommend on getting 5 inspections, one at every stage. Definitely not over-kill IMO. We got one once the slab was finished, frame completion, roof and pre-lining.....and now we're up to waterproofing. Our independent inspector picked up things at every stage - Lucky for us, they were extremely minor and not worth rectification. However, many others have not been so lucky. They've had major issues with slab, frames, and waterproofing. Lucky for them that they had an independent inspector to pick the issues up, otherwise the client would never have known. Even if there are no issues, it really is worth that peace of mind. $395 Fixed Priced Landscape Plans for DA M: 0435 127 244 | W: bluegumdesign.com.au | E: info@bluegumdesign.com.au Residential | Commercial | Industrial Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 12173May 30, 2015 11:03 am homeofjns PixiGT Hi homeofjns, I've contracted an independent final inspection (in addition to Tyrell's), just so I have an objective & authoritative reference for any works that may need to occur Sent using Tapatalk Thanks PixiGT!
