So did you only upgrade the island bench not the other side where the oven is?
Yep, we figured we would make the island a feature.. so the oven side will be 20mm..

I think our contract says 7 months but Iam hoping it is completed earlier.. We started our build early October, and we are almost at completion. All we have left is for painters, electrician, appliances and drive way and we are done. I believe we are about a month away from completion. Our case may differ from others though as we are doing our flooring after handover. Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 11266Feb 17, 2015 7:54 pm Hi everyone, wanted to bring to your attention an issue we've been having with Metricon. There's a Metricon house being built next to us and their tradesmen have been repeatedly using our power without permission (Metricon don't supply power to their sites). Our site manager raised the issue, we've raised the issue several times with head office and still it keeps occurring. I've since spoken to the construction manager of Metricon only to be told 'this is common' and that we're 'making a big issue out of nothing' and that it was only used to charge batteries (even though we've caught it being plugged in over night and our site manager got abused when he unplugged it on site one day). Metricon have been extremely rude about this issue considering we pay for the power. Has anyone else had this issue? In my opinion, this is electricity theft & therefore in my mind I would be reporting this to the relevant authorities (electricity supplier & police), provide your evidence gathered so far, & allow (or encourage if needs be) the proper course of action from this standpoint. However you choose to handle this unfortunate situation, I wish you the best of luck. Sent using Tapatalk Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 11268Feb 17, 2015 8:26 pm Thank you. We completely agree it is theft! We've finally got Metricon to agree to pay a portion of our power bill, but they argued with me black and blue to get to this agreement. Our next battle will be to make sure this doesn't keep happening. It's rediculous that they don't supply their sites with power. What's even more frustrating is their lack of acknowledgement that they're doing something wrong. We looked at Metricon when we were deciding on builders. So glad we chose Eden Brae! I think our contract says 7 months but Iam hoping it is completed earlier.. Our contract stated the build at about 8 months. We had a shocking start with about 4 weeks of rain delays first up. This was August last year. I think the slab was finally poured in September and we are almost complete and looking at a mid march handover. Initially we were expecting to move sometime in May (8 month contract + 4 week rain delay + 5 week Xmas break) our site supervisor has been fantastic and really moved things along and caught up the time we lost at the start. Even over the Christmas break we had the linings put up in the days between Christmas and New Years. There was only really a 2 week period where no one was on site over the Xmas break. Metricon agreeing to paying a portion is definitely an achievement, however their reluctance to change policy or practice (in the least, to acknowledge this to you) is concerning. If you feel the desire to try to inspire change, there may be an opportunity to do so by supplying information about the situation to both Dept Fair Trading of the theft & their conduct, & HIA (http://hia.com.au/en/about/WhatWeDo.aspx)...on their web site, it states that they "Encourage industry high-standards through self-regulated commercial conduct", which we can only hope would include on-site conduct by its members or the industry as a whole. Otherwise, tell everyone you know, & ask them to tell everyone they know - loss of custom may change their mind. Hi sheffieldhunter, I agree with kim_kdr...both combinations are lovely, & I have the same preference for light coloured bench tops (my bench is new Cairo!) Sent using Tapatalk Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 11275Feb 17, 2015 9:25 pm "12 month fixed price lock in for unregistered land" I am aware that when paying your deposit of $750 and accepting the tender and another $2500 secures your price lock in for 12 months but, My father in law was told today by someone in head office that if, when the time comes at the end of your 12 months you need an extra 1,2 or 3 etc months because of unregistered land not being ready, that you don't just simply pay $750 per month for 1-3 months and $1000 for months 3-6 "as stated on their promo flyer" you must pay for X amount of months up front before signing your building contract. She said that she tells everyone this in their tender presentation, however this was not explained at all to us in ours. It also makes no mention of a prepaid lock in for extra months on, our tender which we accepted signed off on and paid $2500, and also two promo flyers which are different. Can anyone who has a fixed price tender and, either needed or not needed an extension of time tell me if anything like this was explained to them? It doesn't make sense that they would make you pay for X amount of months when you might not even need 12,14,15 months etc... And if you did pay that, do you then get money back for whatever months you didn't need an extension for? Very confused right now and will be calling tomorrow to find out Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 11276Feb 17, 2015 9:25 pm sheffieldhunter Hi all, So we have to decide on a kitchen colour we are undecided on which one to choose please please help us all opinions advice much needed and appreciated.
