Normally how long does it take for EBH to hand over keys after PCI (Assuming not major issue discovered at PCI). Also should I hire a building inspector? We had him during the frame work. Tryyells will be doing the final inspection. Should I reply on them or get my own guy in as well? Any thoughts... Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 10450May 02, 2014 1:11 pm BH We have the same issue especially on our back alfresco. Will have to ask my SS but don't feel very confident that something will be done. Not sure if I should wait until maintenance period or bring it up now. Also just a quick update. Our shower screen was finally installed on Wednesday but there are scratches on all three screens. Luckily yesterday someone from EB was at our house for other issues and I mentioned it to him. Stegbar rang straight away. So now we are back to the waiting game as they need to order the glass. Some of our sunshade/blockout blinds will be installed tomorrow (can't wait). Still waiting for shutters. Also our retaining wall and pool plans have been approved by council and our landscaper is ready to start. He is meeting us on Monday night to discuss our backyard. Also we have decided to install sunshade roller blinds on the triple door so I am go to order them but still unsure whether to put 1 roller blind on the opening door and a double roller on the other two doors. Or vice versa? Has anyone else got roller blinds on their stacker? If so what did you do? Tryyells will be doing the final inspection. Should I reply on them or get my own guy in as well? Any thoughts... I was told roughly 10 business days from PCI to settlement. It is purely up to you if you want to hire a building inspector or not. We had one for frames stage and PCI. We felt that 2 sets of trained eyes were better than one. Also Tyrells picked up stuff that our inspector didn't and our inspector picked up stuff that Tyrells guy didn't. All issues in both reports were rectified which was a win, win for us Heathcote Wow about your shower screens. Luckily they can be replaced, but what a pain. From my understanding EBH do not like to fix the bricks (as its cosmetic and not structural). But seriously, we've paid hundreds of thousands of dollars for our house and we all expect a level of quality and a final finish level of quality. Our brickies were really good mind you, but they left the underside of the bricks looking messy and gluggy. Great to hear that landscaping will start shortly for you. I can't help you with the blinds as we got panels across the stacker. I think it is unslightly & cheap looking. Secondly, we have roller blinds on our stackers. They work well with a single plus double. We ordered ours through Abbey. I mean, they can't throw that back at us when there is a scratch on the stone benchtop, chipped tiles, uneven paintwork or scratches on the shower screen, can they? Cosmetic is important too. We ordered ours through Abbey. Kerith, do you have the single on the door that opens first? That is what I am thinking about doing. Also, read the article in the homes section last week. Your house looks beautiful - love the alfresco pool area. Also had a quick peek on your blog and you were mentioning the tiles in the living areas. Our tiles seems quite tinny and we already have a holes in one tile in our family area. Did you end up getting them fixed through Di Lorenzo? They will all have independent movement as well, 3 chains.. Though the middle one will have a short chain so its hidden and child proof. They are getting installed next week. We often have just the single one open and leave the double down especially during the week when we aren't around as much. The tiles - we had one drummy tile in the hallway which has been replaced and about 4 chipped tiles on bathroom floors. On the alfresco we have a few that sound very hollow when I used the jet hose on them. I was told not to worry about those Kerith - Building an Eden Brae Newport 40 in Sydney's North http://kerithsedenbraehouse.blogspot.com.au/ Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 10457May 02, 2014 4:23 pm thanks Kerith for the photos. The decision is made - single and double roller. This was the look I was after. NSharma - I was thinking of triple initially but was a bit concerned about how the cord for the middle blinds would work. Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 10458May 02, 2014 4:30 pm I also went the same way one roller blind on main opening door & a double rest of stacker, the reason to do this way is one less blind & if you do three your going to have a operating cable hanging down when stacker fully open. With just using the two you have the operating cords configured to each end. I took soooooo long deciding whether to get the 3 blinds or the 2. Your ones look really good. I hope i end up liking mine heathcote35 thanks Kerith for the photos. NSharma - I was thinking of triple initially but was a bit concerned about how the cord for the middle blinds would work. I was told that with the 3 blinds you can have 2 cords, with the 2nd cord operating the middle and last blind simultaneously. I decided to have the 3 cords after i was told that it would be short and out of the way.. Plus like the idea of being able to have them all at various lengths if needed Building Lawson 27 MKII Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 10460May 05, 2014 10:02 am mystro Hi all, I need to put aluminium doors on entry which is required due to my BAL rating (29). EB have provided me with the diamond grill however it is absolutely horrible and i've got a nice wood door behind it. Does EB have other options for this? Or is there something i can do to avoid the door (other than ripping it out which will ruin the frame). Cheers, M Instead of the diamond grill, can you get a single mesh screen (something like invisiguard??) You can also get the frame with a wood type look to match your door. It would be cheaper to get the screen door after handover though. How much are EB charging you for the mesh screen door? Oh and I fully understand why you don't want to cover your lovely front door. We have a larger door, which is a nice feature and tossed up whether or not to put a security door on or not. We decided not to.
