Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 7848Sep 29, 2013 1:19 pm Hello, I drove out to Chisholm and had a look at all of those new slabs you mentioned Bax. they look good! I have just received the name of my SS-no introduction call yet, but we have Clint. Hoping he is nice and efficient. Does anyone know how long it takes for action after being appointed an SS? We have had red pegs for about 2 weeks now, but only had file released to construction and got SS name on Thursday of last week. So happy for you Rose-enjoy the house after the big move Cheers, Alison Building Sheffield 25 in the Hunter Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 7849Sep 29, 2013 1:25 pm PS: Congrats on the sale of your house Kerith. Must be a weight off your mind! Sounds like your completed home is just around the corner. And thanks 1sttime for giving us all hope that any issues will be fixed! Hope you are loving being settled there now. Cheers, Alison Building Sheffield 25 in the Hunter Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 7850Sep 29, 2013 5:09 pm Drove out to our block today and we have a lower roof. Our front portico has been installed but we have to clarify with our SS the colour scheme as we are not sure of the colour or material of the facade/top beam of the porch. Can't find it our colour selection list. Maybe Cremorne 35 you might know as you are building the same facade. Chatted to our neighbours today and they are moving into their house in a few weeks. We have decided on a Woodland Grey colorbond fence which seems to be in the in colour for our subdivision. I have posted some photos on my blog. Sorry tried to paste them here but the link for photobucket doesnt seem to work at the moment Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 7851Sep 29, 2013 6:05 pm HunterSheffield25 Hello, I drove out to Chisholm and had a look at all of those new slabs you mentioned Bax. they look good! So happy for you Rose-enjoy the house after the big move I am sure you will hear from him early in the week - our block was scraped/cut 2 days after being released to construction - and they haven't got heaps on at the moment. I am sure the salesman told me Clint was really good but we have been pleased so far with Rob. Its exciting when they start - A bit disappointed this weekend as nothing done to the slab to fix it, downpipes not done as they were supposed to be and the frame arrives on Tuesday - so they better get started - Rob promised no delay due to slab but we are at the mercy of the engineers - so we will be calling SS in the morning for an update. Apparently bricklayers are waiting for work so we want to keep our place in the line!!!! Bax Fingers crossed that they start with fixing the slab this week. Do you know how long it will take ti fix? Can the brickes start on the unaffected area first? Although, I guess they will need to bring in heavy equipment to cut the slab and you don't want people to be walking about when that happens... Alison Not long to go now before your slab gets poured. You've got some very exciting months up ahead as you see your house go up right before your eyes Binskin I wasn't happy to commit to everything during the session, as i wanted more time to have a chance to have it reviewed by someone else that had a better idea as to what they were doing - we signed away anyway on the provision that until we had actually paid the remainder of the 5% the contract was a paperweight. Also if anyone can recommend any blinds / fencing / wardrobe / lanscaping places i'd love to hear from you Did you get that bolded bit in writing? Although I had no probs with EB, It just pays to have all verbal communication confirmed in writing as if probs do occur, you've got a hard copy to fall back on. Sorry, I can't remember where you are building. I can recommend a couple of places, but need to know where in Syd you are. I remember reading a post a while back with someone saying that its best to move it to the side of the alcove as it will cause the fridge to stick out heaps? Those who have one - Is that correct? Our alcove is only 650mm deep. Our current fridge is just a standard one but we are just concerned for if we decide to upgrade to one with a water/ice dispenser that it wont fit well... Building Lawson 27 MKII Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 7854Sep 30, 2013 9:09 am I'm not 100% sure (will need to go home to confirm this), but I think our cold water point sits behind the overhead cupboard to the fridge space, so the whole 600mm depth of the space is used by our fridge (i.e., cold water point should not jut out into your fridge space cavity). If you don't have an overhead cupboard to the fridge space then you will have a bulk head and the cold water point should sit behind this. Maybe confirm this with CSO to be sure. Our fridge still juts out as it is pretty big. Wish we had increased it to 700 or 750 mm depth when we went through KC. Not sure why they ask you at your appointment how high and wide your fridge is but not how deep you want the fridge space to be..... We do have an overhead cupboard to the fridge space. Can i ask who you went through to move it? We've asked our CSA and they said its a KC thing. So we asked KC and they came back and said its a HOG thing..... Have not had a response from HOG yet So, if we move the tap to the over head cupboard will there be a hole to allow it to be connected to the fridge later or does that need to be done when you install the fridge? Not sure why they ask you at your appointment how high and wide your fridge is but not how deep you want the fridge space to be..... We were asked how deep and how wide we wanted the fridge cavity, we were able to delete the false wall completely as more space behind the fridge doesn't matter. We also asked for a wider cavity at the expense of some pantry space to allow for future upgrades even though my future beer fridge is only 2 years old and will be too narrow for the space. Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 7857Sep 30, 2013 9:30 am We didn't ask for the cold water point to be moved to behind the overhead cupboard, it just came installed that way. Yes there is an empty space behind the overhead cupboard where the cold water point is installed. Our overhead cupboard is about 30 to 40 cm deep and the remaining 20 to 30cm is an empty space in which the cold water point sits. If I remember I'll take a pic to show you what I mean. How annoying to ask your CSA, only to be referred to KC and then pushed onto HOG. Hopefully someone will let you know soon. Heath Lucky you were asked about depth. We only got asked how wide and how tall we wanted the space. We also have an extra wide fridge space, 1.3m wide. Sorry, I can't remember where you are building. I can recommend a couple of places, but need to know where in Syd you are. It doesn't matter now anyway, we've been through everything and paid the money so were waiting for our appointment dates to come back to us now. We're building out at Gledswood Hills which is next door to Gregory Hills / Oran Park town, i've had some feedback that apparently blindsonline is good? I'm hoping that with other local blinds places i can basically take the windows list to them and they can work out the sizing required - i've been through the airlite / stegbar websites for sizing already and i'll take a tape measure with me one day this week to measure up some of the standard display home windows to make sure they match up. I need to get cracking with a landscape plan today, fingers crossed the block will be registered this week!! Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 7859Sep 30, 2013 9:49 am Baulkham Hills Heath Lucky you were asked about depth. We only got asked how wide and how tall we wanted the space. We also have an extra wide fridge space, 1.3m wide. Seems that HOG, KC, EB offer an inconsistent experience client to client. Lesson to learn for those thinking of Building with EB would be to become as informed as possible and know what your requirements are before starting the process. Hindsight is 20/20 though as there are SO many options and variable factors.... I am certain there will be "we should have asked for that to be done" moments. I also find myself asking why we chose the design we are building and why we didn't choose X or Y design. I'm still annoyed at myself for not getting high ceilings through out our house.. it would have really made it look great. Also annoyed that i didn't ask for a bigger window near the kitchen.. And I should have changed our Bed 1 more, utilised the space a bit ie increase the ensuite, made the robes bigger.. What we have is good, but it could have been alot better....
