Even if you uninstall baton holder and move wire to the gyprock you have to fix gyprock for the baton holder secrews. Now I understand EB placed light fittings were you wanted down lights, those fittings are called baton fittings. I find that crazy because it is wasted money as down lights are normally set up with normal 240v plugs & wiring in roof space is set up with a plug base fitting, this was part of what was confusing. Yes the baton fitting can be screwed into a batten (support beam) but a down light can't because it needs space behind the gyprock hole. I would be talking to EB about this as there electrician & if his brief was fit the baton fittings which will be replaced with down lights by client they should have known 2 of the batons they mounted wouldn't be suitable. Your electrician is either going to throw away those fittings & replace with 240v plug base fittings or direct terminate the down light transformers to the wiring (not a great idea). The reason down lights have plug fittings is because if a transformer fails it is an easy replacement as most transformers are supplied with the plug fitting. This is example of the plug base used in roof space, electrician will just leave say a metre of slack cable in the round about position you want down light if lights going in later that is what EB electrician should do, not use baton fittings that are useless for what your replacing them with. http://www.tradewarehouse.com.au/single ... -base.html Yes zRoYz that what EBH should have done. But EB provides baton fittings for the future downlight points. Most of my downlights are GU10 240v but few I used 13W with transformer for 120 beam angle in the pantry/bathroom and my sparky used the exact same socket plug which you mentioned to attach the transformer. Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 5876Jun 21, 2013 9:55 pm sohnaeo Need2know sohnaeo I want to aware those who haven't signed the electric plans yet or electric appointments. If you get EB to provide the points for the future downlights ask them to make sure they don't install the batten holder on the timber because downlights install in the ceiling/gyprock. I had few provision points for the downlights , sparky hit timber for 2 batten points , he has changed the position now I have to cover+patch+paint the hole, it is hassle. Thats a good tip Sohnaeo. How much does it cost for the LED. Could you please let me know how much EBH is charging for the batten holder. All I want to know is, is it worth it installing later or get it installed by EBH? Recently I learnt a lot about the led downlights. If you are building single story I would advise to install the downlights post handover inc wiring. I buillt double story so I had to do the ground floor led through EB here is quick comparision EB Downlights # $117 , 9 watt , 45 angle, 600 lumens Post handover downlights # $50 ( $30 downlight $20 wiring) 10 watt , 90 angle , 800 lumens beam angle is very imp while choosing downlights wider the angle less black spots would be. My ground floor led done by EB is less brighter than the first floor. EB charge $70 for the downlight provision point still you have to buy led and pay sparky. Thanks for the info.Yes we are building double story as well. Know I am thinking should I install downlights by EBH (ground floor) or not ............ I would like Telephone line in my study and CAD6 and modem in my media. Can this be done. Please advise? The beam angle depends on your cieling height. You can use some geometry to work out the ideal beam angle. you should ideally have it set up so that the beams cross at 1100mm above the floor. So for a 2440mm cieling you could have a 60 degree beam angle and 1200mm spacing. Higher cielings should use narrower beam angles as they have further to spread. Have the hub/ modem placed in your garage with the NBN set up... Telstra's gateway signal is strong enough to give me signal throughout my home... We then have data points in various spots throughout the home. You could then have the phone line where you want it, etc. Built a Hawthorne 31 with EB nessjeffdreamhouse.blogspot.com.au Building an investment now with New Living homes... Im here, i read through but with so much going on and so much for me to study before we sign our tender im busy sifting through forum and trying to work out what things will cost us. I have a few questions. EBH only want to refund us $3000 for removal of the drop edge beam. I have read that some people get $3800 when i told EBH this they told me it was the "size" of the DEB that makes up the cost of the beam. Due to EBH rcord of inconsistent pricing im not wanting to believe the information they are giving us right now. Eden Brae Drysdale 27 | The Blog I built with EB back on 2009.
