The tradies that they say are coming just don't turn up - the SS said that he will just do some of the work himself. We'll just have to wait and see what happens. I'm sure that I will be more excited when I actually believe that it will happen. Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 5226May 28, 2013 9:59 pm Thanks Dearheart and 1sttime Hi 1sttime, about your NBN connection, does EB provide the network cabling between the comm box and your other network port inside your house (not your garage) ? I don't see any cable on my garage apart from the power point. Looking at the contract, NBN package includes: upgrade phone wiring to cat6 and additional cat6 point. I saw the network port on my study room but no network cable on my garage. Cheers. Building with EB - Foxley 30 @ The Ponds Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 5227May 29, 2013 8:31 am The network port in your study should be wired back to your garage, or the point you nominated for your NBN connection point. You should have 2 points in the house (phone and data) and both will return to a single location where the NBN equipment will be located. Houda ---- Built the Lincoln 35 at Georges Fair Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 5228May 29, 2013 9:00 am peace97 Finally ... PCI is booked in this Friday. Hopefully all goes smoothly. Have you got a settlement date yet Dearhart? on getting a date for PCI. Hope all goes well at the inspection. Dearheart Well.... sort of. At PCI they said last Friday, then it became today, then tomorrow, now its this Friday. But I'll believe it when I see it. The tradies that they say are coming just don't turn up - the SS said that he will just do some of the work himself. We'll just have to wait and see what happens. I'm sure that I will be more excited when I actually believe that it will happen. Wow. What is going on with trades if they just don't turn up when booked? I know there is a lack of tradies at the moment, but if you have been contracted to come back to fix a property then you would think that they would turn up. I hope that you have all the issues that you picked rectified soon so that you can move in. We have settlement booked in on for next Friday at 10 am. The house will be ready by Wednesday and initially SS asked if we wanted to settle then (Plan A). Although it would have been great to get the house 2 days earlier, I unfortunately have work obligations that I can not get out of on the Wed and Thurs. So we asked for Friday (Plan B). But the only issue with that was that SS is only available after 1pm and my CSO is only available in the morning! So we have gone to Plan C and asked if we could view the house at 7am on the Wed or Thursday and then settle on the Friday morning. I can do the inspection and then head off to work. We are just waiting on our SS to see if he can meet with us at 7am on either the Wed or Thurs. 1sttime, how long did it take you to go through the house at the final inspection? I’ve got about 2 hours before I have to leave to get to work so need to know if the final inspection is going to be quick? Thanks HoudaMan, I guessed either the electrician forgot about it or the cables are laying on the ceiling space. Cheers Building with EB - Foxley 30 @ The Ponds Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 5230May 29, 2013 10:37 am I feel my NBN was a big balls up with HSI. There are cables in the garage connecting to the main hub located in my study. All other cabling runs from that point. NBNco installed their equipment in the garage. The man who installed this equipment took out the cabling that the electricians installed for the connection to the street as it was not long enough. That was okay. Telstra came and installed the home gateway in the garage as they install this with the NBN equipment. We got Internet but not phone...so we organised a telstra technician to come out the next day as they thought it could be a fault as the light for phone wasn't lighting up. When we were trying to problem solve the fault, we plugged our phone into the phone socket directly with Telstra's home gateway and we had a phone dial tone. So Telstra deducted it wasn't a fault with their equipment but with our house wiring. Now again, I will get on my bandwagon and shout...NBNco distributed a new information booklet in January 2013. I contacted HSI about this when I discovered that they prefer all equipment in the one spot. Ie. the house in an area out of the traffic zone, or like what HSI consult in the garage....but no! HSI have been told that NBNco want the equipment how they install it... NBNco equipment in the garage and everything else in the home. They want to know why I'm the only one of their clients who want it a different setup. Can I add that masterton and jandson and Macquarie grove homes all in my street had it set up, the preferred NBNco way... My house is the only odd house... I called the after handover electricans to reconnect my wiring so that the data points and phone line in my home work. They werent talking to the telstra installed hime gateaway in my garage. They spent an hour and a half, reconnecting and checking connections in the house and the only way i can use my data and phone in my home is to move the home gateway unit into the study. So in my study I have my home gateway from Telstra, with my phone connected to it, and four cables coming from this into the wall. It uses the only PowerPoint I have in that room. One that I dedicated for the use of my computer and printer... So it looks like along with these atrocious sight of wires coming out and into a box, I will have to have a Power board to go with this to use my computer. It wasn't my plan, and on the turnaround. The double power point in my garage that was included in the NBN upgrade for their equipment is left empty as there is no equipment there to plug in! Can you tell I am not happy! I have sent off a strongly worded email to HSI and EB, as I raised some of these issues whilst in construction. What I can't fathom is M from HSI indicated having the NBN equipment would be untidy and unsightly in the home! Does the equipment I have in my study look better than the beige nicely compacted equipment I have in the upgraded comm box! Secondly, why do they say you are the only client who wants it a different way... I feel like they feel I am trying to cause them an inconvenience. As I said before my neighhbours all have it done the other way... It's just EB home builders who have it different! I will update my blog with a photo of the equipment in the house. Truly, I have been so annoyed about this since last Thursday when it was discovered that I needed the electricians back again cause Telstra's equipment wasn't talking to the upgrades we had made! Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 5231May 29, 2013 11:18 am So where should it all be installed? That's pretty crap that EB do things differently. Just makes it harder for everyone in the end. So should everything be connected at the same place? This sort of stuff that worries me because NBN is not going in at my place for another 12 months. If I hit an issue by then, it would be difficult for me to get HSI to fix their mess. I reckon being charged almost $700 for NBN packages by HSI/EB is totally a waste of money. I can just ask them to give me a power point and a couple of network connection instead. On the contract it was mentioned that there will be a conduit from the street to the house, what happen is that HSI reuse the conduit that was meant for the telephone connection -- hence there is only one conduit with Telstra logo in it. Which mean, before I can have the NBN Fibre cable into the house, I need to take out the existing Telstra cable from the conduit. The cost for the Telstra connection + conduit is already included on the house price btw. On a different note, I'm also not happy with the LED downlight that HSI supplied. Apparently the ladies who help us with the electrical consultation doesn't know anything about the required number of downlight for the space that we have. When I turned on the lights at night, there were dark spot on the floor which mean there's not enough downlight for the 9watt led that HSI proposed. I know that everybody already suggested to do the downlight after the handover for single storey house.I am just not smart enough to listen to it. My neighbour who did their downlight after the handover only paid a fraction of what HSI charge. Building with EB - Foxley 30 @ The Ponds Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 5233May 29, 2013 11:58 am hmm we are also going to have to call an electrician out after handover to install and phone port for us in our study. We are not in an NBN area and will not be for another 5 years. All the smart wiring that we have for the house is useless at the moment as the main data point is in the study and with no phone port we will not be able to access internet as it is. I wish that when we had the appointment with HSI that they had indicated to us that we needed a phone port. Oh well it is one lesson learned. We will prob get electrician in to do some lighting as well. It will be more money that we will have to spend..... HSI maintain how they installed it for us, is how everyone they install for gets it done, however, all my neighbours have the equipment (NBNco and Telstra/ iinet) in the one spot. And thats what Telstra said to us. It's also on their brochure as this. I am going off the one dated January 2013. Sheers in one room, block out blinds in the other when they installed two days after handover. ( it was supposed be done before... But that is a different gripe) After chasing this up, they come out today to change them, guess what? They brought out two sheer blinds... Ummm we already had sheer in one of the rooms, it was meant to be block out! So they will go back and order it again...of course this now means another day waiting for installation and of course the week or so wait for the order to come through! Arghhhh! LOL and here we were thinking that all the problems will be just during the build. I am sorry that you are having so many issues with them. We didn't go with Abbey blinds. They did contact me about a week ago asking if we had changed our minds and wanted to accept the quote that they gave us. I emailed them a quote that I got from someone outside and they couldn't match the price. I have booked a removalist service and will be moving on Tuesday 11th June. Now we have to get seriously packing. Pity I can't be like Mary Poppins, sing, clap my hands and the boxes will magically pack themselves! Sheffield25 Yup go over everything with a fine tooth comb. Make sure that anything you added, like extra gas points, water points, increases to shower niche are shown on your plans. Sarah85 Great to hear that you will b starting the construction phase soon.
