I think its because they do 3 coats of white paint on the walls but the colours they just do 2 - unless you pay extra for 3.

I feel like ive jumped on this way too quickly since only 2 weeks ago we were looking at established homes and now all of a sudden diving head first into building and trying to learn everything so we dont get caught out. im feeling over whelmed tonight. we have bushfire regulations in my estate. we are right opposite a reserve and yeah you know its there but when you read about the pre-cautions etc its just making me re-think living in a bushy area is a good idea. im the sort of person that just freaks out so easily over little things. do you all stay calm - or is this just the type of game it is Hi Renski, I hope you are feeling better today. It is nerve-wracking building a home because you get too many opportunities to second guess things. My husband and I have visited display homes off and on as well as visiting occasional open houses for about 3 years! We knew our current house was not baby friendly, but thought we had a bit of time to decide what to do-well, now our long awaited bub is nearly 1 and we know for sure that this house is horrible to live in with kids, so one weekend we saw a block (in a suburb we like, but not our favourite estate and it is a battleaxe which has pros and cons) and my husband said, 'let's just do something-we can't talk about it forever!!!' and we made an offer. That night, we sat at home going, gosh, we just bought land!!!! The next day, we had paid our $750. I try not to get down when I see another design or idea I like by reminding myself that we chose our design for a reason-namely, location of study and laundry, it is not too big or too small, open plan and could have a drive through garage that didn't interfere with alfresco-plus, it was a bit cheaper than some other designs. I think all homes have their niggling problems and if we bought an established house, knowing me, I would have wanted to make some changes!!! Without in any way trying to throw away your concerns because I feel them too sometimes, but I try to think that at the end of the day, it is the memories you create within the house that is important-I still love decorating and stress out a little about colours etc, but I try to remind myself how blessed I am that this is one source of stress in my life-plenty of people would want that sort of stress! I think the year long process of building a house allows you so many opportunities to spy other houses or other people's ideas or colours and think-that's nice, but I think you have to make a decision, own it and run with it and try to enjoy it, remembering that a beautiful family home is made of love and laughter first and foremost. My main stress is money, as we haven't sold our current house yet-we hope to have it on the market in the next month, but we have no idea when it will sell. Obviously that will ease our financial stress a lot, but at the moment, I stress a little about upgrading too much as until we sell our house, we really don't have much of a budget for too many upgrades, so I am trying to pick what is important to us. I still drive through other (nicer) estates sometimes and think, maybe we should have paid the extra money to build here, but then I remind myself that we have a far larger block where we bought, it is in a more convenient position for our lives, it will mean our mortgage isn't out of control etc and I try to own the decisions we have made and focus on all the positives. It probably helps that we think we will live in this house for 10-15 years, whilst our children (we currently only have 1) are young (as it is flat-no stairs!!! Hooray!!!) and then we might downsize a little to our dream house on a larger block of land. Everyone has different circumstances, so try not to compare situations. Let me know if I can help you in any way along your journey to help to ease your stress. You will end up with a beautiful home. It's all the admin that has people stressed and second guessing their decisions. The plus to living in a bushfire area is all the lovely trees too! Lucky you! Gee, this is like an essay. You can tell I am an English teacher!!!! Still waiting on a date for settlement, but hopefully we will get it today.... I Congrats Baulkham Hills. It must be exciting. I am looking forward to seeing pics of your house when you are in!! Cheers, Alison Building Sheffield 25 in the Hunter Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 5211May 28, 2013 1:46 pm [quote="ohmistershefield25"]Renski, you're not alone. I too feel that we've jumped in to quickly without exploring other options. On reflection (thus far), we selected the house too quickly. We didn't look at other builders or many designs. Our priority was having some side access and the Sheffield25 allowed for this. BUT the kitchen has caused so much drama and we should have picked a house that didn't require modifying. We were told throughout the process we could discuss the layout at kitchen culture. Our options were limited as BASIX had already been sent off and we couldn't move the windows to suit the kitchen. My advice, if in doubt ask on the forum someone will be able to help out. Much more than EB. quote] I agree that the kitchen has some problems in the Sheffield25. I truly hope you find a solution. I know absolutely that your house will be beautiful from all of the effort you put into researching things and then sharing your finds. You are like me!! I look up furniture shops, lighting shops etc every week so I can find the 'just right' furniture to put in the new house!!! It is the decorating of a new space I am most excited about and I absolutely can't wait to see yours. We should give EB some feedback on the pantry problem in the Sheffield. I also agree that this forum has some of the most generous and lovely people on it and is a better source of information than anywhere else. I get excited for people following their decisions and then seeing it come to fruition. I hope you are having a good week Cheers, Alison Building Sheffield 25 in the Hunter Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 5212May 28, 2013 1:53 pm If anyone could help me out..I logged into EB connect and it says 28/05/2013 - 2.3 Surveyor Request. I too worry...but I guess you can't let worry stop you from following your dreams! We are also building in the same suburb as you Renski but on the other side. I believe that having all those bushfire regulations aren't always a bad thing, you will end up with a really well built & safe home in the end! I have lived around here for 12 years now, moved from the inner city and I love it here! I haven't seen any major bushfires apart from those at the Mountains...I wouldn't worry too much but def have a look into it a little more so that you can rest your mind before you sign anything A little secret, I was going to build 13 years ago in the same suburb with Masterton (The Crystal), me and hubby were engaged at that point, child free planning our wedding... $285K!!! for the house and land (a decent block too) Wish we did now lol we paid more than that for our block!!! Don't let fear/worry (or people) put you off ....12 years on ive sold my house that we've outgrown to build the house we could had bought 13 years ago Granadz ~ Building Drysdale 29+2sq http://jason4rose.blogspot.com.au/ Slab ~ 3 April Frame ~ 17 April Bricks ~ 3 June Lock up ~ 17June Linings ~ 25 June PCI ~ 11 Sept Keys ~ 27 Sept Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 5214May 28, 2013 2:01 pm Sheffield25 If anyone could help me out..I logged into EB connect and it says 28/05/2013 - 2.3 Surveyor Request.
