Lockup, Fit out Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 2.0 2155Jul 30, 2012 6:31 pm Hi guys What a busy few days, havent had a chance to update. We had PCI on Friday and it went well! PCI was at 12pm, and we had the PCI and final payment cheque in our hand at 4.30 and SS handed over the keys!!! Quickest handover ever, thanks to our awesome lender (who we have known for years). PCI was fairly good. We had our independent inspector there and he was very happy, so much so that when he was leaving he said to me "these guys have done a good job, this house would be in the top 2% of houses I have seen for quality". Gotta be happy with that! There are some tiling issues with careless tradies chipping tiles, so they came back today to fix them and in the process chipped the top of the vanity. When we told SS he was irate. So now the vanity has to be replaced as well. The other problem (the main problem) with the tiling was in the ensuite, right at the end of the inspection I said lets tip a bucket of water on the tiles to make sure the water drains. It didnt, it actually went twards the door opening SS straight away said that the tiles will have to be replaced. I would advise everyone to check this when you have your PCI. We nearly didnt so I'm glad we remembered! So both of our bathrooms still need work done, which is disappointing, but as long as it happens by Friday I will be happy. The only other things are paint touchups, a faulty outside powerpoint switch, and a couple of very minor things. We are hoping all of these things are fixed up this week, and our SS is keen to make that happen, so fingers crossed. So since yesterday we have been laying the bamboo flooring, and we are so happy with it. It looks bloody awesome! At the rate we are going it will be finished by Friday no worries, but there is so much of it (150 square meters or so). The conceter will be here tomorrow to start the driveway, and some of our blinds should arrive this week too. I still havent ordered them all, because I'm struggling with what to get for the sliding doors. The cooker and rangehood are booked to be installed on Thursday (hope we dont have the problems squashedrex had ) We still need to arrange for the alarm and air con to be installed. There is so much to do, its manic! We would really like to move in this weekend, so fingers crossed that everything goes to plan. I have photos and I'll try and get them up tonight or tomorrow night. Overall we are really happy, the house really was worth the wait! Be back soon, hope you all have a great week and lots of progress Novo Overture by Masterton Contracts 20/8/11 DA submitted 31/8/11 DA approved 27/10/11 Site scrape 30/1/12 Slab 6/3/12 Frame 21/3/12 Brickwork 24/4/12 Lockup 8/6/12 PCI & HANDOVER 27/7/12 Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 2.0 2156Jul 30, 2012 6:58 pm Great to hear Novo. We used the same building inspector as you (thanks for the recommendation by the way) and he was also very happy with the quality of our build to date (just before gyprock). Hopefully we will get to PCI one day too (soon I hope!) and I've been wondering how picky Masterton will let you be. You mentioned some chipped tiles ... do they have to be quite obvious before M will redo the work? What about marks on the walls (uneven render), or maybe minor marks and scratches on cupboard surfaces... or like on our build we have flush mortar but it's a bit patchy around the alfreso (not full enough ... not sitting flush with the brick surface in parts). Just wondering how pedantic to be with SS at PCI? any advice from those that have been there already? Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 2.0 2157Jul 30, 2012 7:17 pm Congratulations novo, fantastic that you were able to get your keys on the day. Looking forward to seeing pics. Regarding the bathrooms, our main bathroom is the same as yours, water just sits on floor - absolutely no fall. Haven't checked the ensuite yet but the laundry doesn't have any fall either. Bsiley76 - perhaps you should mention to your SS that this seems to be an issue with local tilers. Squashedrex - do you have the same issue with your bathrooms? Looks like we will have quite a list of defects in 3 months time. Good luck with your Bamboo flooring, we had a little over 100m2 and it took the flooring guy 2 days. also one of our outside powerpoints is faulty and we've been waiting for it to be replaced since PCI. I'll have to check out our bathrooms for water drainage. From memory they looked fine but hard to say. HWS was fixed this morning and then this afternoon we noticed that the solar collectors on the roof were leaking water. Not just a minor leak, it was pouring out of them. So again we still have no HWS. Plumber will be back tomorrow for the fourth day. On another note I fixed up the alarm myself today, turns out it was already configured and tested and just needed plugging in and turning on and a bit of a config. We also started installing our lights, managed to get 15 done of the 49 we have to do. Cutting the holes is a pain. Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 2.0 2160Jul 30, 2012 10:30 pm Mike-villina 28 I live in fairfield area too, have you spotted all the villinas in the area ive counted around 8!! Id like to see your plans if you dont mind posting on the thread here! Im waiting on the construction plans and final tender to come through, was told today that I should have them in a week. Had a bunch of council conditions which need to be paid for: a delapidation report - even tho there are no footpaths or any other homes near us - $280 a surveyors check prior to pouring concrete and at the pouring of concrete -$320 damage inspection fee - $130 road opening permit - $105 and finally have to add restricted winder to top floor awning windows - $475 They are the unexpected costs. That should be it unless they realise sometjing during the drawing of the consrtuction plans that hasnt been included. Hope theres no more costs!!
