We get keys next week, but bathrooms will take two wks, then 2 weeks for hubby to lay bamboo so we will be in early/mid jan as we thought. Hope all going well! Build Again I have a thread, feel free to read! https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=57912 Re: Our New Home - Clarendon Maitland 29 42Dec 09, 2012 10:37 am We are going ok, two coats of paint done, last one to go. A number of minor issues yet to be resolved- they keep say "we will get to it". I am thinking they are hoping I give up or forgot. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. A question, has anyone got to this late stage without meeting their SS? I find this beyond slack, he calls once a week if he remembers, but other than that nothing. Very strange. We put our septic in last week, and are having an issue getting the power on. We had it connect and sub mains layer before construction even started. Clarendon was contracted to connect power to house, and now they are saying they/their electrician don't want to. As they didn't lay the sub mains. Anyway my electrician is giving them a price... if they are not happy with it they will have to do. Some disappointing news also last week- we thought we are so close to being done, that we would get keys before Christmas. But when I questioned SS during a hone call last week, about not responding to an email requesting a few things including finish time, he said handover would not happen till end of January. Disappointing, but I have said all along take your time and do it properly. Which I wouldn't mind if in fact they had done soooo many things properly. Noticed yesterday some of the tiling in bathroom is appalling, and our entry door has been chipped on installation in a number of places (just the latest in a long line of issues). Anyway, to answer your question,,,,, we were looking to be in by Christmas- but that is not to be. Cheers Dan Re: Our New Home - Clarendon Maitland 29 43Jan 29, 2013 11:27 am Hi, I recently found your thread and was really interested to see your progress. I am in Sydney and building the Maitland 40. We almost have our frame up and was wondering how you were going, and if you were in yet? Would love to see some pics from this late stage. I hope the reason you have not posted for a while is because you are busy moving in!! Re: Our New Home - Clarendon Maitland 29 44Jan 29, 2013 1:49 pm Hi Picturebel, I wish that were the case. Sadly not in yet. I have not posted, as I didnt think anyone was reading it!! We did finally meet our SS- with the house at an almost completed stage. He was very nice- but still the company should not overwork their staff so much that a meeting cannot take place until an almost final walk through. The delay is in one way a godsend- we were commenting over Christmas how good it has been that there has been no rain. Then we get rain over the weekend- and guess what. It leaks... Imagine trying to sort that out after handover. Anyway, now there is a roof to fix, ceiling, cornices, insulation, walls, and likely architraves to replace. Which I am sure they are going to attempt to just paint over- but I have armed myself with a CSR documents stating that wet gyprock should be replaced. It is close, but not done- which is annoying as I have taken all of Feb off work to get decking etc done., I will start it anyway I think. Re: Our New Home - Clarendon Maitland 29 45Jan 29, 2013 6:33 pm Yes, we are reading! Lucky the leaks happened now, so they can fix it before handover. I can just imagine how disapointing it would be to find those leaks after you have moved in. We built the Wisdom Majestic 40 - moved in! Our blog - http://ourwisdommajestic40.blogspot.com.au/ Our H1 thread - viewtopic.php?t=54156 Re: Our New Home - Clarendon Maitland 29 46Jan 29, 2013 8:04 pm just been reading your post, your house looks great, I have just recently signed contract with clarendon to build Sherwood 35, seems you got few issues with them, will you choose them to be your builder for your next home? Re: Our New Home - Clarendon Maitland 29 47Feb 18, 2013 1:55 pm Hi again, Sorry, have been off line for a while. Thanks for your response. I can't believe your luck with the leak, but like you say at least you got it on the right side of handover! We have our bricks almost finished now. We are having the bottom 10 courses Bowral Blue and the rest render (Paperbark) - both all the way around. We have had our hiccups too, right now we are waiting to hear what they intend to do about the six stacker sliding door out to the alfresco. We paid to have it sunken so it would be flush with the finished floor, however they have miscalculated and there is a gap between the steel beam at the top and the frame. Not sure how they are going to fix it - he mentioned raising the frame, however i'm not sure how this is going to give us a flush finish at the bottom. We asked to have all the left over bricks left on site too - note to anyone reading this, make sure you do ask. The supervisor said "no don't worry, we usually clean them away and take them off site so you don't have too" - no thanks, we are more than happy to keep the pallet (or more) of very expensive Bowral Blue bricks to use around the place afterwards. Like you, there was no attempt to meet the supervisor, apart from the phonecalls along the way. I was out there one day when we both just happened to arrive at the same time, other than that I would not know who i am talking to. We have built before, 12 years ago and at that time it was normal practice to meet your supervisor on site. Ours mentioned that he has a site meeting just before gyprock goes up but as we are not quite there yet will have to wait and see. So that's us for now. I also wanted to ask, is your's the 29? Your pictures look bigger than that? Maybe because it's on such a big block of land? Would love to see some pics of how it's looking now. If i can work it out i will get some up at some stage to show you ours. Take care, Bel PS - mikemlmichael....from my exp, regarding the question would you choose them to build your next home, it really is up to who you get i.e. tradesmen and supervisor etc - not necessarily the company if you get my drift. Our last builder was Allam Homes, and there is NO WAY i would go with them again. In comparison to this build, even with the few hiccups we have had already, this is far better. It is just impossible to pick it. Not sure if that helps!!! I am in Sydney and building the Maitland 40. We almost have our frame up and was wondering how you were going, and if you were in yet? Would love to see some pics from this late stage. I hope the reason you have not posted for a while is because you are busy moving in!! Hi bel, We are looking into building the maitland 40. As there are no displays in Queensland we would love to hear any info you have or see any pics your willing to share. Did you go with the sapphire inclusions? Did you make any changes? Thanks Re: Our New Home - Clarendon Maitland 29 49Jul 01, 2014 7:20 pm Hi Everyone, So sorry I have taken so long to come back. To be honest, I have had an extremely busy year (Got married, moved in, and had baby!) and forgot That combined with not getting notifications when someone has written a reply. So there is my excuse !! Now…… where do I start. I presume everyone else is in? We moved in in April last year, and am still fighting to get things fixed. In particular the rather expensive bifold doors. The whole bottom plate is cracked on the largest of the two from the handover cleaners pressure cleaning them while the drains were clogged with crap. Subsequently water sat in the channel for several weeks while we were on our honeymoon, until out tiler bought it to our attention on our return. We cleared the drains and out poured the water!! @picturebel : Yes ours is the 29, but we added the alfresco, rumpus and expanded a couple of spaces…. from memory we are up around 39 squares…. we preferred the layout when compared to the 40 where the alfresco felt closed in (our opinion). @mikemlmichael Would I build with them again? Im sure you can guess my answer- ABSOLUTELY NOT. While I accept the actual trades (aside from the chinese crew of painters our were all pretty good) onsite are what makes the difference in quality and finish as pointed out, the stress and angst from having such poor (non existent) processes and client management are almost inexcusable. When we next build I imagine I will owner build. After all, I have put that much work into chasing things on this I might as well reap the benefits of doing it all myself (cost savings, contract who I want, quality control, OVERALL CARE FACTOR). Peter, I will put some pics up tomorrow. Although outside is a bit of a worksite as we are putting in about 120sqm of decking which was delayed for over a year as I was trying to make their job easier for removing the bifold door in question. I just can't wait any longer and they will just have to work around it. Anyway, how has everyone else's build gone? Re: Our New Home - Clarendon Maitland 29 50May 05, 2018 7:01 pm Hi Xxennon, I don't know if your still on this thread as I have only just found it? I am looking to build a new house and we are looking at the same design you have chosen and your place looks amazing so that is helping my decision at the moment. Just curious on final pricing was there much extra on top of what your original contract was signed up for? The next question would be have you got a rough price range of what your total build cost sorry if this has offended you in anyway I have never built a house before and I'm getting a lot of different opinions so I'm starting to freak out a little bit. Either way if I don't get a reply from you your house looks beautiful Grant Re: Our New Home - Clarendon Maitland 29 51May 30, 2018 3:05 pm HI Grant, Have replied to your PM, feel free to contact on the number provided. the stair balustrades? There is nothing special about these and I imagine literally every stair installer will be able to do this. 1 6738 The two 15mm holes are obviously not compliant. The Dept of Fair Trading would love to see this one! Do the gutters pool water after it stops raining? Although it's… 4 7863 "Losers" "humanity" "off time" "your" "top notch" "love symbol" Sounds like ponzo is done using other people's toilets 36 23898 |
